Guided Practice for the Week
Tuesday: Show your model of hymn and hymnal note cards. Tell the students to
pick a pair of words to create their own cards. They will create one with your
guidance and then one on their own at their seats. Explain each box and what
goes in it. The students cannot pick hymn and hymnal for their words.
Wednesday: Hand students books that are on their reading levels and instruct
them to fill in the chart below as they read with sounded or silent consonant
words. Then have the students come up with a pair of the word.

Thursday: Form your own words!!! Think about the word list that we have been
using to make your own words based on the same patterns. Think of as many as
you can, and we will vote on them as a group.

Tuesday: Just like you did in small group, you will create a note card based on the
word you chose in small group. You will now create a note card for the other
word in the pair.
Wednesday: Write the Room!! Walk around the room in order to find as many
silent or sounded consonant words as you can. The words have to be written
somewhere in the room. Find as many words as you can.

 Monday: Using your paper from today’s seatwork, decide whether the
consonant that you underlined is a silent or sounded consonant. Beside the
words, write whether the consonant is silent or sounded. When you have
completed this, attach it to this packet. *Student 12: Cut out the words and
sort them based on whether they are long or short vowel sounds. Glue the
words under the appropriate headers and underline the double consonants
in each word. After you have completed the assignment, attach it to his
packet.

Tuesday: Choose a pair of words from your word list. Make sure to choose a
different pair than the one you chose in class. You cannot select the words
hymn/hymnal. You will get the blank cards in class on Tuesday in order to make
your cards. Make sure to be creative with your sentence; do not start your
sentence with the word I. Feel free to make your pictures very colorful. When you
have finished your cards, attach them to this packet.

Wednesday: Pick 10 words from your word list in order to write a small story.
You can write about whatever you want to, as long as you use at least 10 of the
words from your word list. Be as creative as you can. If you wish, you can draw a
picture about your story after you write it. Be sure to use a mixture of silent and
sounded consonants. Do not start all of your sentences with the word I. After you
finish writing your story, attach it to this packet.
