Transfer Student Advising Checklist
Processes to be aware of when working with advising departments:


Equivalencies- These are often already reflected in the Transfer Credit Report that is provided to you by
Admissions. In some cases, the advising department may work with you to request this from a department chair.
Substitutions-the advising department may request from a department chair for a course from a different
institution to count towards an NAU course. You may be asked to provide additional documentation for this
process, such as a syllabus or a course description.
Please follow the checklist below to get your transcript evaluation completed:
1. _____ Have copies of all your transcripts (unofficial is fine) available so you are able to work with the college
advising departments more productively. The advisors may ask you to provide these transcripts so they are able to
work with you immediately, even though you have already provided the transcripts to the Admissions department.
