Gen2 Engineering and Technology Training Ltd is an OFSTED Grade 1 training provider based
in West Cumbria. We provide a diverse range of employer-led training, including engineering
apprenticeships, degree courses and postgraduate programmes. The company has established
strong partnerships with academia including the Universities of Manchester, Central Lancashire
and Cumbria.
Gen2 wishes to expand its range of training provision, especially in higher and postgraduate
education, to meet the emerging skills demand arising from the development and operation of
new commercial nuclear power reactors in the UK. To that end, the company is seeking to
appoint a high-calibre scientist/engineer who wishes to pursue a career in training and
education within the rapidly developing nuclear sector.
Duties: The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, project supervision, curriculum
development, research and knowledge transfer in the field of nuclear technology, including
reactor design and operation, nuclear fuel cycle technologies and radiation protection. An ability
to teach engineering project management and mathematics is desirable. Teaching duties will
extend to BEng(Hons) and postgraduate level.
Qualifications: Essential: A minimum of BEng or BSc Hons at Class 2.1 or above and a
postgraduate qualification in nuclear technology or a related discipline. Desirable: PgCert Ed or
equivalent.
Experience: Essential: Several years experience in the application of nuclear technology in an
industrial, research or academic environment. Desirable: Several years teaching experience at
degree or postgraduate level.
For less experienced candidates, Gen2 will consider appointment at the Junior Lecturer grade
with the expectation that the individual will undertake appropriate training and professional
development, including working towards a recognised teaching qualification.
