John took over the role of chair in April 2012 following five
active years on the regional board. John is a practical but
passionate exponent of marketing with hands-on experience
of each stage of the food and drink sector from farming to
consumer retail. John has held marketing roles within large
corporates to small farmer owned co-ops. Acting as a
consultant, John has presented to The Minister of Agriculture
on innovation, acted as an expert witness in high court
tribunals re-launched DairyStix, develops new foods and
processes. John started his own business, Taylerson’s
Malmesbury Syrups, from scratch in 2007 developing a new
food product that was on the shelves of major retailers within
12 months.
Rachel Baker – Head of Marketing and
Communications for Bristol-based charity, St Monica
Trust
Rachel has been in the not-for-profit sector for 15 years,
principally in the promotion, evaluation and development of
care, support and accommodation to older people and their
families.
During her career, Rachel has also been involved in a number
of social research projects into ageing and support for the
elderly, which came about during a four year post at the
Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
Her present role also encompasses internal communications
to engage the Trust’s workforce in consistent, high quality
service delivery and to promote the charity’s employee value
proposition.
Since starting at the St Monica Trust, Rachel has been
instrumental in the successful expansion of the organisation,
which has more than quadrupled in terms of operational
turnover to £25 million per annum. Additionally, Rachel’s
experience covers new product development, customer
relationship marketing and crisis communications.
Owen Tebbutt - Head of Marketing and Strategy for
IBM Global Business Services
Owen has been a member of the CIM for 20 years, and is a South West Regional
Board member.
As a practicing B2B marketing leader for nearly 25 years, he's worked for a
number of organisations in the IT and professional Services sectors.
For the last 17 years, Owen has worked for IBM, where he's held senior
management positions in marketing across many parts of the organisation. His
current role is as Head of Marketing & Strategy for IBM Global Business Services
- one of IBM's largest business units in the UK & Ireland, with over 2,500
employees focused on the business consulting and professional IT services
market.
Owen is also a board member for Somerset’s inward investment company, Into
Somerset, where he works with organisations and communities to stimulate
inward investment into the region.
Owen is passionate about the future direction of marketing, and its rapidly
changing role as a serious, strategic, business discipline which should be the
heartbeat of all successful organisations.
