Bus service changes commencing 23rd November 2015

Stagecoach East Scotland would like to advise passengers of bus service changes effective from Monday

23rd November 2015.

Below is a summary of the changes. New timetables will be available online from late October, and on buses and in bus stations from early November.

Service 7/7A/7B/7C: Leven – Kirkcaldy – Burntisland – Dalgety Bay – Dunfermline

There will be a number of changes to this service to improve connections and simplify the timetable. All journeys will follow a common route between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy operating as service 7. The current service 7A route variation within Burntisland and Kinghorn will be discontinued and replaced by new service

57. Within Dalgety Bay all journeys will operate via Western Access Road and Harbour Way providing new connections to the Asda store. In the Buckhaven and Methil area, the routes will be swapped so that service 7 operates via Buckhaven and Lower Methil, while Methilhill will be served by journeys operating to and from

Kirkcaldy only via Victoria Road and St Clair Street, as service 7A. The revised timetable will provide a 10 minute frequency between Kirkcaldy and Leven for most of the day. The service 7B and 7C route numbers will no longer be used.

New Service 11/11A: Kirkcaldy bus station – Strathkinness Road – Redcraigs – Fife Central Retail Park

This new service running up to every 20 minutes will largely replace services K3 and K6, but with new direct links into the Retail Park serving the bus stop next to Sainsbury’s. The service will also operate via Ferrard

Road past the Aldi store during the daytime, with evening journeys omitting Ferrard Road operating as service

11A.

New Service 12/12A: Kirkcaldy bus station

– Valley Gardens – Brodick Road – Fife Central Retail Park

This new service running up to every 20 minutes will largely replace services K3 and K6, but with new direct links into the Retail Park serving the bus stop next to Sainsbur y’s. The service will also operate via Ferrard

Road past the Aldi store during the daytime, with evening journeys omitting Ferrard Road operating as service

12A. Glen Bruar Place will be served by new service 15.

Service 13/13A: West Wemyss – Kirkcaldy – John Smith Business Park

The route of this service will be revised to include Boreland Road between Dysart and West Wemyss.

Between Broom Road and the Retail Park the route will operate via Chapel Road, past the community centre, instead of Chapel Level. There will be some minor timetable revisions as a result. There will be no change to the route of the evening and Sunday service 13A journeys.

New Service 14: Kirkcaldy bus station – Dunnikier Estate

This new service will replace service K4 operating to the same route and broadly the same timetable, running every 20 minutes, although a new timetable will be introduced incorporating some minor changes around peak times.

New Service 15/15A: Kirkcaldy bus station – Templehall – Fife Central Retail Park – Glen Bruar Place

This new service running every 20 minutes will largely replace service K1/K5, but with new direct links through the Retail Park to and from Glen Bruar Place. Evening journeys will operate via Lindores Drive instead of

Robert Adam Drive, numbered service 15A.

New Service 16/16A: Kirkcaldy bus station – Fife Central Retail Park – Gallatown – outer circle

This new service operating hourly will provide new direct links between many of the retail and residential areas on the edges of Kirkcaldy. Journeys operating clockwise via Sauchenbush, the Retail Park, Asda and

Ravenscraig will be numbered service 16, with journeys operating anticlockwise in the opposite direction numbered service 16A.

Service 17: Kelty – Cowdenbeath – Crossgates – Fife Leisure Park – Dunfermline

This service will be extended to operate to and from Dunfermline via Hill of Beath, Crossgates, Fife Leisure

Park and Scotland Drive, providing new journey opportunities for these areas. Within Cowdenbeath the route will be revised to serve Stenhouse Street for the new Aldi store, as well as Greenbank Drive and Moss Side

Road. Halbeath Park & Ride and Mossgreen will no longer be served on the route, although service X26 will continue to provide a link between these two locations.

Service 18: Kelty – Cowdenbeath – Kirkcaldy

The route of this service within Kirkcaldy will be revised to operate via Chapel Level and Victoria Hospital, providing new direct links between Kelty, Cowdenbeath and the hospital as well as quicker journey times to and from Kirkcaldy bus station. Sauchenbush and Mid Street will no longer be served on the route, with new service 16/16A providing an alternative for these areas. Within Cowdenbeath the route will be revised to serve

Stenhouse Street for the new Aldi store.

Service 19/19A: Rosyth

– Dunfermline – Halbeath P&R – Cowdenbeath – Ballingry

In order to provide quicker journeys for the majority of passengers using this service, the route will be revised and no longer serve Fife Leisure Park, Dunlin Drive and Pittsburgh Road during the daytime on weekdays when demand at these bus stops is low. The route will instead operate via Halbeath bypass and Halbeath

Main Street. Existing services 2/2A and 3, along with revised services 17, 33 and 56 will provide regular links to and from the Leisure Park at these times. On Saturday afternoons the route will continue to operate via the

Leisure Park. A revised timetable will be introduced as a result.

Service 23: St Andrews – Cupar – Auchtermuchty – Kinross – Dollar – Stirling

A revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability. There will be no change to the route.

Service 33: Kirkcaldy – Cardenden – Cowdenbeath – Halbeath P&R – QMH – Dunfermline

The route of this service will be revised within Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline. Within Kirkcaldy, the route will operate via Templehall Avenue, Fair Isle Road and Lindores Drive in order to serve more conveniently located bus stops than those on Chapel Level. Within Dunfermline, the route will operate via Fife Leisure Park,

Pittsburgh Road, Queen Margaret Hospital, Robertson Road and Bellyeoman Road. Halbeath Main Street will be served by revised service 19/19A, while Garvock Hill will be served by extended service 17. A revised timetable will be introduced as a result.

Service 34/34A: Kirkcaldy – Cardenden – Lochgelly – Ballingry

There will be a small route change within Kirkcaldy. The service will operate via Birnam Road instead of

Lindores Drive during the daytime, and Glamis Road will no longer be served. Lindores Drive will be served by revised service 33 during the daytime, although evening journeys numbered service 34A will continue to operate the current route via Lindores Drive. Some late weekday evening journeys will be withdrawn.

Services 38/38A/39/39A/39B: Kirkcaldy – Thornton – Glenrothes – Newcastle/Leslie

These services will be revised to operate via one common route between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes bus station via Victoria Hospital, Asda Kirkcaldy, Thornton and Stenton, providing a 10 minute frequency along this part of the route. Within Glenrothes, the different areas will be served as follows:

Service 39 to/from Newcastle every 30 minutes (via Asda).

Service 39A to/from Leslie every 30 minutes.

Service 39B to/from Pitcairn every 30 minutes.

The current short journeys operating between Queensway bus depot and Newcastle as service 39B will be renumbered to service 38, which together with service 39 will continue to provide buses between Newcastle and Glenrothes bus station every 15 minutes. Evening journeys between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes operating via St Clair Street will run as service 39C.

Service 51: Dunfermline – Ferrytoll P&R – Kirkliston – Livingston

This service will be renumbered to service X51 and will become limited stop between Dunfermline bus station and Rosyth Crossroads, observing the same express stops as new service X55. In addition, in order to provide a more convenient stopping place for South Queensferry the route will operate via Tesco, Ferrymuir.

Service 55/X55: Dunfermline – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh

This service will be replaced by new Perth – Kelty – Edinburgh service X55, please see full details below.

Service 56/56A/56B: Fife Leisure Park

– Halbeath P&R – Kelty – Kinross – Bridge of Earn – Perth

This service will be extended to operate to and from Fife Leisure Park, providing new links with this facility for

Kelty and other areas. There will be some minor revisions to the timetable as a result.

New Service 57: Kirkcaldy – Kinghorn – Burntisland

This new service operating hourly Monday to Saturday will replace the service 7A route between Kirkcaldy and

Burntisland serving Kinghorn, Kilcruik Road, and the Greenmount Road South area of Burntisland.

Service 92: David Russell Apartments – St Andrews Students’ Union

A revised timetable will be introduced on this service to accommodate other changes on the network.

Service 95: Leven

– St Monans – Anstruther – Crail – St Andrews

A revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability, and all daytime journeys will now serve Crail, Pinkerton Road.

Services K1, K3, K4, K5, K6, K7 & K8: Kirkcaldy town services

These services will be withdrawn and replaced by new Kirkcaldy town services 11, 12, 14, 15 & 16 as detailed above.

Service X24: St Andrews

– Cupar – Glenrothes – Halbeath P&R – Dunfermline – Kincardine – Glasgow

The 0515 Glenrothes to Dunfermline Monday to Saturday journey will be withdrawn. The 1735 Glenrothes to

Dunfermline Monday to Friday journey will run 5 minutes later. This service will now observe the Glenrothes,

Woodside Inn bus stops.

Service X26/X27: Leven – Kirkcaldy – Halbeath P&R – Dunfermline – Kincardine – Glasgow

The 0525 Leven to Dunfermline and 0635 Dunfermline to Kirkcaldy Saturday service X26 journeys will be withdrawn. The 1800 Kirkcaldy to Dunfermline (Monday to Friday), 0605 Leven to Dunfermline (Sunday) and

2355 Dunfermline to Leven (daily) service X27 journeys will be withdrawn. The 1605 Glasgow to Kirkcaldy

(Monday to Friday) service X27 journey will be extended to Leven.

Service X37/X40: Kirkcaldy – Thornton Bypass – North Glenrothes

This service will be revised to operate as one common route between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes as service

X40 every 30 minutes. From Kirkcaldy, services will operate Victoria Road, St Clair Street and Gallatown, then via A92 (Thornton Bypass), Bankhead and Woodside, before serving Glenrothes bus station and continuing on to Pitcairn. The same route will apply in reverse to Kirkcaldy. Evening and Sunday journeys operating between Glenrothes bus station and Pitcairn only will be numbered service 37 (Bus Station –

Collydean & Pitcairn) and service 37A (Bus Station – Pitcairn & Collydean).

New Service X52: Glenrothes – Kirkcaldy – Halbeath P&R – Livingston

This new shoppers’ service operating over the Christmas shopping period will provide a direct journey between Glenrothes, Halbeath P&R and The Centre, Livingston. The service will operate daily until 3 January

2016, excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

New Service X55: Perth – Bridge of Earn – Kinross – Kelty – Dunfermline – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh

This new limited stop express service will operate hourly between Perth and Edinburgh via Bridge of Earn,

Kinross, Kelty, Dunfermline, Rosyth and Inverkeithing, providing many new journey opportunities across the

Stagecoach East Scotland network. The service will be operated by our luxury Express City Connect wheelchair accessible coaches featuring leather seats, free WiFi, air conditioning and an on-board toilet.

Additional journeys operating between Dunfermline and Edinburgh using low floor leather seated buses will provide a combined 20 minute frequency along this part of the route. The current evening service 55 between

Dunfermline and Edinburgh will be incorporated into this service as X55. Friday and Saturday night service

N55 will operate to/from Leith Street, Omni Centre, instead of Waverley Bridge.

Service X54/X59/X61: Dundee/St Andrews – Glenrothes – Halbeath P&R – Edinburgh

Service X61 will be extended to operate to and from Glenrothes bus station via Stenton, providing new direct links with Edinburgh for these areas. Services X54 and X59 will now observe the Glenrothes, Woodside Inn bus stops, and service X59 will also observe the stops at Cupar, Knox Gardens.

Service X58/X60/X62: St Andrews – Leven – Kirkcaldy – Edinburgh

The 0610 St Andrews to Kirkcaldy (Monday to Friday) journey will run 5 minutes earlier. The 0715 Kirkcaldy to

Leven (Saturday) journey will be withdrawn. The 2355 St Andrews to Leven (daily) journey will run 15 minutes later. These services will now observe new bus stops at Bernards Smithy, West Lodge on the B9157 road.
