Conditions and Clarifications for Grant Applications
Before making an application for research or travel grant, please read these conditions
carefully.
1. People who are NOT affiliated to a UK based institute of higher education or a UK
museum cannot be considered for grants.
2. Students applying for grants must give two references and scholars applying for a
grant cannot give references from inside their own institute.
3. We do not give grants for tuition fees and living expenses.
4. Grants are valid only for one year.
5. Travel grants are limited to £1200. DO NOT make applications for more than this
amount.
6. We do not give grants for conference attendance.
7. We do not give grants for publications of books and articles. Nor do we pay for
photocopying, purchase of books and postage.
8. Subsistence should not normally be included as part of a research proposal if you are
researching in urban areas and have easy access to public transport, restaurants, etc.
9. Before making an application, please consult with the programme director relevant to
your project. He/she can guide you with your application.
