Assistant Professor - Mechanical Engineering Technology at Austin Peay State University,

The Department of Engineering Technology at Austin Peay State University is seeking
candidates for a full- time, 9-month, and tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in Mechanical Engineering
Technology of the following areas: dynamics, machine design, solid modeling, geometric
dimensioning and toleranceing, direct energy conversion, thermodynamics and material science.
The Candidate will serve as a coordinator of Mechanical Engineering Technology Specialization
agreement between Austin Peay State University and Pellissippi State Community College
(PSCC) in Knoxville, TN, and to be based at PSCC.
The Engineering Technology Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Technology with two accredited concentrations by ETAC-ABET in Electrical and
Manufacturing and two concentrations in Construction & Civil and Automotive & Mechanical.
The department also offers Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology with
concentrations in Automotive, Construction and Electronics. The department currently has 7 fulltime faculty.
Hired applicant will be stationed in Knoxville, TN.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruction (traditional, web based, and distant learning classroom), curriculum evaluation and
development in mechanical and engineering technology and related fields;
- Articulate and oversee multiple 2+2 transfer programs between Pellissippi State Community College and
Austin Peay State University;
- Student advising and recruitment;
- Participate on various department, college and university committees;
- Establish strong relationships with local and regional industry;
- Professional development;
- The individual must be committed to the continuous improvement process to the program and contribute
to program objectives and outcomes to seek program accreditation by ETAC-ABET.
Required Qualifications
- A Master degree or higher in mechanical engineering/engineering technology with a thorough
knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing engineering;
- Documented three years of relevant industrial experience, OR Professional registration (such as
the P.E. or Certified Manufacturing Engineer/Technologist);
- Academic background in mechanical engineering /engineering technology;
- A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
