Heavenly Father….. Physician of our souls and bodies, Who has sent your
only begotten Son to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit us and heal us,
Your servants, from all physical and spiritual ailments through the grace of
your Son Jesus Christ. Grant to us patience in this sickness, strength of
body and spirit, and recovery of health. Lord, You have taught us through

SUNDAY HYMNS FROM THE OCTOECHOS
Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Tone 2
TROPARION
When You descended to death, O Life Immortal, You destroyed hell with
the splendor of Your Godhead. And when from the depths You raised the dead,
all the powers of heaven cried out: “O Giver of life, Christ our God, glory to You!”
Troparion
(Fathers)
You are most glorious, O Christ our God! You have established the Holy Fathers
as lights on the earth. Through them You have guided us to the true Faith. O
greatly compassionate One, glory to You!
Kontakion (Resurrection)
Hell became afraid, O almighty Savior, seeing the miracle of Your
Resurrection from the tomb! The dead arose! Creation, with Adam, beheld this
and rejoiced with You, and the world, my Savior, praises You forever.
Kontakion (Fathers)
The Son who shone forth from the Father was ineffably born, two-fold in nature,
of a woman. Having beheld Him, we do not deny the image of His form, but
depict it piously and revere it faithfully.
Thus, keeping the True Faith, the Church venerates the icon of Christ Incarnate.
========================================================
Prokeimenon
The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.
The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over to death.
(Song of the Fathers) Blessed are You, O Lord God of our Fathers and praised and
glorified is Thy Name forever
Alleluia Verses
May the Lord hear you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
Save the King, O Lord, and hear us on the day we call!
(Fathers) The Lord, the God of gods, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to
its setting.
The Hymn to the Theotokos
It is truly meet to bless you, O Theotokos, ever-blessed and most
pure and the Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and
more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim: without defilement you
gave birth to God the Word: true Theotokos, we magnify you.

EPISTLE LESSON FOR TODAY:
2 Corinthians 11:31-12:9
Reading the Epistle this morning: READER MATTHEW LEZINSKY
BRETHREN,
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed
forever, knows that I am not lying.
In Damascus the governor, under Aretas the king, was
guarding the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to
arrest me; but I was let down in a basket through a window in the
wall, and escaped from his hands.
It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to
visions and revelations of the Lord:
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago – whether in the
body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God
knows – such a one was caught up to the third heaven.
And I know such a man – whether in the body or out of the
body I do not know, God knows – how he was caught up into
Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a
man to utter.
Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except
in my infirmities.
For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will
speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above
what he sees me to be or hears from me.
And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance
of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger
of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that
it might depart from me.
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My
strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will
rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me.

GOSPEL LESSSON FOR TODAY
Luke 7:11-16
LET US ATTEND:
Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city
called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large
crowd.
And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead
man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she
was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.
When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said
to her, “Do not weep.”
Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who
carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you,
arise.”
So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He
presented him to his mother.
Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A
great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His
people.”
