Returner Accommodation Information
We are pleased to confirm that a limited number of rooms are available for 2 nd & 3rd year students
wishing to live in halls for the 2014/15 academic year. Whilst halls fees have not yet been
confirmed for the 2014/15 academic year we would like to invite students to apply and register
their interest. We will be able to confirm the cost of accommodation by the end of February at
which point applicants can accept or reject an accommodation offer.
Accommodation will primarily be available to students who feel they would benefit from being close to the
support services available. We will be reviewing applications on an individual basis and prioritising them in
order of the points below:
1. Students who evidence a need to live in halls due to a disability or welfare requirement
2. Students who would benefit from living in halls in order to be close to support services
3. All other applications in date order of receipt
When you make an application you will need to outline your reasons for wanting to live in halls and may be
asked to provide further supporting documentation. Applications will primarily be reviewed by
Accommodation Services but advice and guidance on specific issues will be requested from experts in
relevant areas to ensure we fully understand a student's circumstances - this could include Student Support
Services, Accessibility and Widening Participation.
How to apply for Halls
To submit an application for accommodation, you will need to do so via our online system Room Service.
In the Additional Notes section of the online application form please outline your reasons for wanting to live
in university owned or managed accommodation. Please refer to our step by step application guide for
more detailed information regarding applications. The deadline for submitting an application is Thursday
28 February.
When will I know if my application has been successful?
We anticipate that offers will be sent out during the first week of March once we have confirmation of the
cost; at this point you will have 7 days to accept or reject the offer. If we are unable to accommodate you
due to all rooms being filled you will automatically be placed on a waiting list. We will inform you via
phone/email as soon as possible if a room does become available.
Resident Assistant/Wardens
We will also be looking to recruit returner students as Resident Assistants/Wardens for our
accommodation. RA’s / Wardens are expected to live on site at either Glasney Student Village or Tuke
House and take an active role in supporting fellow residents. If you have an interest in student community
and have experience of living in a residential environment this role could be for you. For further
information including the job description, please click here.
