POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER - LUNG BIOLOGY

NUI Galway, in partnership with the Regenerative Medicine Institute (REMEDI), seeks to appoint a
Postdoctoral Researcher in Lung Biology. This position is funded by the Health Research Board. The
Postdoctoral Researcher will play a lead role in the implementation of a research programme
examining the therapeutic potential of Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Acute Lung Injury. The researcher
will be actively involved in a number of other specific research initiatives, for example, the development
of gene based therapies for Acute Lung Injury.
Candidates for this position should have:





A PhD with significant postdoctoral experience
Proven expertise in molecular biology (with expertise in gene and stem cell therapy a significant
advantage)
Demonstrable expertise in in-vivo pre-clinical lung models.
Experience in research supervision, and in grant and manuscript writing
An excellent research and publication profile.
The successful candidate will be offered a contract of 33 months [project end date 31/12/2014], subject
to favourable external review, and will be located at the Regenerative Medicine Institute (REMEDI),
National University of Ireland Galway (http://www.nuigalway.ie/remedi.ie). The candidate will also
assist with the supervision of PhD students registered at NUI Galway.
Salary: €38,286 - €44,871 per annum (public sector pay policy pertaining to new entrants will apply)
