Let's take the 'eye we have for photography' and interpret again through the 'eye of an abstract painter'.
Artist and instructor, Danielle Bartlette hosts a 4-day acrylic painting workshop based on each participants own personal photos of
people, places, and/or things. We tend to take pictures of moments that please us on our journey through life..so let's learn to
recapture those moments through a different (more colorful) eye. It is not necessary to have great photographic skills to succeed in
this workshop, photos will be used as references to create successful paintings.
Materials such as acrylic skins, inks, paint, gold, sparkles, texture, etc. may be used while participants create luscious, rich paintings
that are truly unique in their workshop experience. Danielle will be swift to guide each participant via tricks and techniques and
demos. Lots of fun! Beginner painters and pros are all welcome.
What to expect? (1)Photo selection and discussion: What to look for in a reference and what will make your painting a success.
(2)Creating an acrylic/ink under-painting: Building up interest on your substrate is important. (3)How to use photo reference for
painting: Which information to leave out, which information to keep or how to embellish. (4)Use of additional mediums and adding
wow factors: Create bold statements and finishing pops with gold, silver? Acrylic skins, sparkles? Texture pastes or collage? Stone
effect? We will find out when the time comes! (5)Learn to take chances: Expand your limits and learn to play!
