this year, so a big thanks to everyone who
supported our school. We're now at the
important stage of the program where the
Sticker Sheets are collected and lodged as
our Earn & Learn claim. We will then be able

redeem. So this week, please send in your

any loose Earn & Learn stickers you may have.
Remember to check your handbag, the car
glove box or they may be stuck on the fridge.

PCYC Minden are Vacation Care ready! Are
you?
We have a heap of fun activities on during
these spring school holidays. Our excursions
include going swimming at the Gatton Sports
and Aquatic Centre with all of their fun
inflatables and pool toys and also going to
Limelight Cinemas Ipswich and watching the
new movie Pixels!! Some incursions we have
on these holidays include Laser Tag! We have
hired 10 blue and 10 red guns with all of the
accessories! Even staff love this incursion!
And Creative Dance Industries will be visiting,
teaching us some super cool dance moves
and learning their hilarious Minecraft Parody.
We are also trying out a new program and
experimenting with our daily routine. We are
trialling friendly Fridays, Whatever
Wednesdays and 10 Tuesdays. During
Fridays we will be doing group bonding games
and activities, this is where staff and children
join in one activity together, last week it was
OZ tag. Whatever Wednesdays are where
children, before beginning afternoon tea, tell
the staff something they would like to do today
and staff will prepare the activities, or the
activity may simply be soccer outside, home
corner or even making some healthy
homemade pizzas. 10 Tuesdays are a day
that our 10 year olds and senior students get
to have some alone time. We understand that
seniors need their quiet time and privacy.
Thus taking the seniors away from the
younger age groups doing activities they are
interested in; this could be sitting out on the
grass with pillows gossiping about the school
day or playing our PCYC SAC children's Ipads.
Have a fantastic week,
We also have 2 new staff who have started
here at MindenOSHC, Sarah Ashe and
Hannah Breischke. Hannah will speak a little
about herself in the next newsletter, but this
fortnight Miss Sarah will be saying hello:

Hi my name is Miss Sarah, I am a mother of
one child, she is 7 years old. I have lived
within the area since 2011 after the floods. I

care for over 8 years working mainly with 3-5
year olds; I also have worked within the
younger age groups and worked with children
who have special needs. I thoroughly enjoy
my job and working with children. I love
working with the older children, this being
pointed out to me on several occasions, hence
my coming to Minden OSHC. I look forward to
working with you all and your children and
developing relationships.

Senior Story Arts Festival
On Monday Years Four, Five and Six travelled
into Ipswich to participate in the Story Arts
Festival. They participated in a variety of
workshops and listened and learned about
how real life authors and illustrators wrote
books. We had a wonderful day and learnt lots.
Some of the comments from the students are
included below.
The day was young. I am getting shoved and
pushed on the bus but I can handle it.
Everybody is talking to the person next to
them, but me, I’m just trying to fit a nap in on
the ride. As we merge into one file, we get off
the bus. Then it’s off to the Civic Centre to see
Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

Thank you
Shouts, claps, echo through the room. Cheers
and more claps followed as they took the
stage, Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.
Laughs break out as Terry draws a cartoon
and tells jokes.

Year 4 News
Well, here we are at the end of another Term.
This means, of course, that there is just one

It has been a busy term especially,
considering all the extra curricula elements we
