Career Counsellor News
Greetings Students and Parents:
Welcome back to all students! I hope that you enjoyed your holidays and are starting
back well rested and ready to meet the challenges of the upcoming school year. I am
very excited about my new role as itinerant career counsellor for Cupar, Lipton, Kelliher
and Robert Southey School. As the school year starts and students return to class, it is
important for all students to consider the many career education opportunities provided
by Prairie Valley School Division. I am available for all of the following career services:
individual meetings with students to select courses and create action plans for career
goals, classroom announcements for career education and exploration opportunities,
planning and registration for career events including career fairs, support for
applications to post-secondary institutions, information and support for scholarship
applications, portfolio and resume development, and information regarding questions
pertaining to career education and transitions from school to the workplace. I will be in
your school each Monday and Friday (unless I am attending a career event). My contact
information and calendar can be found by going to the url below:
http://www.pvsd.ca/ProgramsServices/CareerServices/Pages/Career-Counsellors.aspx.
My first few visits will be focused on meeting with all grade 12 students to make sure all
steps are in place for a successful transition after high school completion. I have
provided a list of Grade 12 Timeline items below that are important during September
and October. I am looking forward to meeting you and helping you take steps on your
career pathway.
