Offered by the Department of History. Total units required for the Major: 68 units (24 lower division, 44 upper division).
Students are urged to take the World Civilization and U.S. History requirements (20 units) early in their major, though the courses (HIST 1014, 1015, and 1016, and
HIST 1101 and 1102) may be taken out of sequence and may be transferred in from the community colleges with the Department’s permission. They must complete
the skills sequence (HIST 2010, 3010, 4030, and 4031) in the appropriate order (2010 before 3010; 3010 before 4030 and 4031) for 16 units total. Otherwise, they may
take their upper division history courses in any order they choose, keeping in mind that they must complete 4 courses (16 units) in an option and 4 courses (16 units)
in electives.
