The Auxiliary Historian is responsible for the factual account of the Auxiliaries activities.
Historians on all levels have a great challenge. It is your job to keep an accurate record of the
memories, any Auxiliaries historical items and submitting a report at the end of the year. This
report at the Auxiliary and District level could be a photo album or scrapbook.
As Department Historian I am requesting all Auxiliary and District Historians to assist me in a
very important job. It is critical that you submit photographs and news articles about the
National President’s visit to Arkansas within 5 days after her visit. Please identify all people in
any photos with full name, title and auxiliary number on a separate piece of paper as writing on
a photo might damage it. If submitting news clippings please be sure to include the date line on
the page the article was printed on. Do not paste articles on a piece of paper. The deadline is
critical so forward immediately after the visit to Department Secretary, Karlene Beams at her
email address of karbeam@aol.com. All items submitted for the National Presidents visit must
be on a CD or sent to the email address as a jpg (photo).
Again this year we will have a judging of Historian Books. One book will be judged outstanding
and a citation to the runner up. Books will be returned at State Convention in June, 2014
Please send items for the Department President’s scrapbook throughout the year. Send me any
photos, programs, flyers or articles about the Department Presidents or other Officers visiting
and/or activities the President was aware of or involved in. I will use this to compile a history of
2013-2014 year of Baring Our Hearts for Our Veterans.
AUXILIARY AWARDS
1. Outstanding Performance Award, Baring our Hearts Award for the Auxiliary that submits a Historian Book
by April 15, 2014 that displays the most effective and unique pictorial history of their Auxiliary from July
1, 2013 to April 1, 2014. Citation to runner-up
2. Citation to each Auxiliary or District who submits usable items about the January 12-14, 2014 National
President Visit in Hot Springs, before January 20, 2014. All items must be sent Digital (scan pictures) to
Karlene Beams, Department Secretary, email address: karbeam@aol.com
3. Citation to each Auxiliary or District who submits usable items about the Department President or Line
Officers visiting their Auxiliary or District, before April 15, 2014
