JUDGING EXPERIENCE: Approved to judge Gundog Group 7 & 8 All Gundogs, CACIB & CAC with the
IKC under FCI Rules & Regulations. Field Trial Judge Section 5 (Hunt, Point & Retrieve Breeds).
ACHIEVEMENTS: When growing up, I always wanted to be to be involved with dogs. It was only in my adult life that it become possible for me to be in the position to own a Gundog. The Weimaraner &
German Shorthaired Pointer appealed to our lifestyle, so in 1987 my wife and I bought our first
Weimaraner & not long after that, the German Shorthaired Pointer followed. We established our affix
‘Zilverein’ in 1988 with the Kennel Club.
Throughout my association with the Weimaraner, I have endeavoured to produce sound examples of the breed. Zilverein Weimaraners’ achievements I believe, are indicative of my knowledge of the Breed
Standard, interpretation of construction and traits of the Weimaraner. I have proactively sought to widen the gene pool in Ireland by introducing bloodlines from the USA and Australia to the Zilverein kennel.
Over the years our kennel has achieved success in the show ring and the field for us and others. I have bred and campaigned All Breed Best In Show winners, Specialty Winners and Group Winners in
Ireland. In England we have campaigned and bred Champion Stake Winner, Puppy Stake Winner &
Challenge Certificate Winners. In the early 90’s I campaigned our first Weimaraner to his English &
Irish titles. I also owned and campaigned the first and only Weimaraner to date, to hold the titles of
American, Irish, English & International CIB CIE Champion title.
I am also proactively involved in Field Trials and hunting. I bred a German Pointer Field Trial Champion who was top HPR Field Trial Winner for three years in a row. I have also successfully bred and campaigned German Pointer Open & Novice Field Trial winners. Our kennel has also attained the
Gundog Qualifying Certificate in the field with seven Weimaraners and the only kennel to win 4 th in
Novice Field Trial with a Weimaraner in Ireland.
INVOLVEMENT WITH CLUBS: I currently hold the position of Secretary and Field Trial Secretary with
The Weimaraner Club of Ireland. I have also held the position of Treasurer with The German Pointer
Club of Ireland.
