Student Spotlight Mrs. Wiseman’s Science Class Homework- Homework is always posted on the board for students to see and I will also remind them daily of any homework they may have for the day/week. Joey Chaffin Joey’s favorite thing to do when he gets home from school is play with legos. He builds towers, space ships. It takes a lot of time and work and he really enjoys this. Joey’s favorite holiday is Christmas. Joey’s favorite thing to do with his family is watch movies and just enjoy relaxing. Test for next week: Thursday there will be a vocabulary test!!! Cirrus-type of wispy, curly cloud. Cumulus-heaps of clouds that look like fluffy mounds of cotton. Nimbus-large, dark rain clouds. Stratus-low clouds that are spread out. Precipitation-various forms of water that falls to the ground. drizzle-very small liquid drops. rain-liquid drops that are 1-3 mm. snow-ice in the form of crystals. hail –chunks or balls of ice. sleet-pellets of ice that are very small. *Students have a Ziploc baggie with all their vocabulary cards for Science class. 2nd nine weeks Expect Success Goals: Monday- Students will begin working on Cloud/precipitation Vocabulary…they will have these in a Ziplock Baggie and need to be studying these for their Vocabulary Test Thursday Tuesday- Will do an activity about Clouds and Precipitation Wed- Cont. Couds and Precipitation…homework tonight is to study for vocabulary test for Thursday!!!! This weeks story will be: “Sarah, Plain and Tall” Chapters 4-7 Thursday we will have a quiz over the following vocabulary words: Chapter 4 Scallop Conch stew rustle Chapter 5 coarse buzzard charcoal dunes mica canvas Spelling Words: reuse restart retell resend replace uncork unstuck unannounced unpleasant unchain unfit nonprofit nonmetal recall nontoxic unwelcome reproduce retrace uninvited reapply Monday- We will read chapters 4-5 from “Sarah Plain and Tall” as a class. Then students will have vocab words from the story to look up for each chapter during class. If they don’t finish it is homework. Tuesday- We will read chapters 6-7 from “Sarah, Plain and Tall” Students will have more vocab words to look up during class. If they do not finish it is homework. Connotation and denotation Wed- We will be working on an activity for Sarah, Plain and Tall. We will also review Metaphors. Cont. Connotation and denotation Chapter 6 plough sums collapsed sputter Thurs- Students will have a Vocab. Quiz over the words from Monday and Tuesday. They will also have a Comp. Test and Spelling Test.
