December 24 , volunteers delivered food and toys to most of the 290 families
benefiting from our 2013 Christmas Basket Program. One of the volunteers
returned with a handwritten note. This is why we do what we do . . .
“I want to thank everyone that has helped my family this year. My husband was laid
off 2 years ago and had to go back to school. He is studying to be a nurse now. We
really from the bottom of our hearts appreciate the help. Our 3 children will be
happy to have a nice Christmas dinner together tomorrow. We hope to make a
donation after we get back on our feet. God bless you and Merry Christmas!”
We thank our community for coming together in support of the Christmas Basket
Program and the ongoing need for food assistance. Schools, churches, businesses,
civic organizations, and residents collected food, socks, & toys, made cash
donations, and provided sponsorships.

Heavenly Snacks for Backpacks is a signature project of the Cross Lanes
United Methodist Church Youth Group. Every Wednesday evening they
pack 160 bags of snacks for delivery to Cross Lanes Elementary, Point
Harmony Elementary, and Andrew Jackson Middle School. The cost of
this program is around $100 per year for each student. To help with the
funding of this program, please send a check payable to Tyler
Mountain/Cross Lanes Community Services.
We are so grateful to all of the donors, supporters, and volunteers that give, and give, to help others. Those that
volunteer every week at our pantry and office were recently honored at an appreciation luncheon at the Greenhouse.

Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department helped us by delivering to 32 families on Christmas Eve!
Fed Ex Ground, YMCA Cross Lanes, and many caring individuals helped with sponsorships of Christmas toys.
The Woman’s Club of Cross Lanes was in a food fight against the Dunbar and Sissonville Clubs. Each club
collected food for their local pantry. The Cross Lanes club collected over 2,600 lbs. of food for our pantry!
