2. PURPOSE OF JOB

The Head of Marketing will work in close co-operation with senior managers and other colleagues across the RSA to ensure consistency of brand messaging across our different platforms. They will plan the most effective ways of marketing and promoting the Society's work to our 27,000 Fellows, external stakeholders, partners and wider public. As well as overseeing all marketing activities and ensuring quality control, they will take responsibility for monitoring and measuring impact.

3. KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement the RSA's marketing strategy aligned with the Society's overall strategy.

Work in collaboration with senior managers and other colleagues across the RSA to devise innovative processes and tools that communicate and engage people in the work of the

RSA to our 27,000 Fellows, external stakeholders and wider public (including internationally) to ensure consistency of the RSA brand experience

Work with all departments to identify new revenue streams through the marketing of new and existing products and services.

Work within the framework set by the Director of Fellowship and the Director of External

Affairs to regularly conduct market research and to become proficient in analysing data from marketing processes, and making adjustments to and recommendations on products and communications accordingly.

Work with the Director of External Affairs and the Head of Digital to develop and adapt the

RSA’s marketing processes utilising sophisticated online marketing tools

Centralise marketing knowledge and insights and maintain close liaison with all departments on marketing activities in what is a complex ecology of platforms and outputs.

Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns at the RSA.

Lead and manage the effective and efficient production of all corporate materials.

4. PERSON SPECIFICATION: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Successful track record in devising and implementing effective marketing strategies at a senior level

A keen knowledge of researching and analysing market trends including new digital opportunities

Proven ability to identify new target audiences and reach them effectively through a range of channels

Proven ability to implement digital marketing across an organization and engage customers and stakeholders effectively at scale

Strong practical understanding of measuring the effectiveness of campaigns across a range of online and offline channels, including web analytics and online conversion.

Proven track record in working in a fast-paced environment and against tight deadlines

Understanding of the opportunities and challenges of working in the context of a membership organization

Results-driven, with initiative and a can-do attitude.

Excellent project management and presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to relate to and work effectively with colleagues at senior level

Strong motivation and ability to learn new skills and keep abreast of new developments in marketing, communications and digital technologies.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

As the RSA's Head of Marketing, it will be your job to plan the most effective ways of marketing and promoting the Society's work to our 27,000 Fellows, external stakeholders, partners and wider public. As well as overseeing all marketing activities and ensuring quality control, you will take responsibility for monitoring and measuring impact.

A key part of the job is to co-ordinate with departments across the Society to devise innovative marketing tools and processes to connect people to the RSA’s work. The job would be excellent for a creative individual with a strong knowledge of how digital platforms can be used to communicate and engage with audiences effectively. You will have excellent writing skills and an ability to understand the work of the RSA. You will need to inspire colleagues, RSA Fellows and stakeholders with your knowledge of emerging technologies and trends.

You will develop the RSA-wide stakeholder proposition, insight and strategy along with managing and executing all marketing campaigns. This is an important role as you will be responsible for amplifying and optimising the RSA brand’s exposure globally through a range of online and offline channels including digital and social media – so we are looking for an individual who has a true multi-channel background.

You will be experienced in managing stakeholder engagement - ensuring that we are relevant to people who already receive or potentially could benefit from our services is at the heart of what we do, so experience in this area is vital. You will be heavily involved with RSA’s online data management platform; building and testing audience segments to show effectiveness, optimisation and results against core performance metrics.

You will be digitally-savvy with stakeholder engagement experience and brand strategy background. You will need to have a proven background in digital channel strategy including social.

You will have extensive experience in a senior marketing role including experience of managing digital campaigns.

 not use any unlicensed software and report any suspected breaches of software licensing to the RSA’s IT Manager (the Chief Operating Officer) or another member of the Executive Team;

 take the same care with e-mails as with any other written communication from or on behalf of the RSA; and

 restrict their usage of the Internet to that allowed by the RSA.
