Wild Planet Introduces Mild and Wild White Anchovies
Milder Variety of Anchovy Packs a Powerful Nutrition Payload
McKinleyville, CA – Wild Planet Foods, leading provider of sustainable seafood, is launching new White
Anchovies in two varieties: in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and in Water. Known as boquerones in Spanish
restaurants worldwide, Wild Planet White Anchovies have a clean and mild flavor. Smaller, lightly salted,
and with a delicate texture, these anchovies are perfectly suited for a tapas platter, tossed into a Caesar
salad, chopped into a pasta, or as a snack straight from the can. This is not your typical anchovy!
Sustainably caught and a sustainable and
abundant species, Wild Planet White
Anchovies are an extremely potent source of
Omega 3, containing an average of 1,240mg
EPA and 770mg DHA Omega 3 per can. In
addition, these smart little fish are rich in
calcium (35% of the RDA), iron, niacin, and
the very important mineral selenium. Anchovies are also low in mercury due to the fact that they are
forage fish and very low on the food chain. Some say this little fishy is the perfect protein and one of the
healthiest “brain” foods you can eat.
Shared Wild Planet Foods’ founder Bill Carvalho, “If there really is such a thing as a “super” food, this is
it! Our anchovies may be little fish, but they have BIG FLAVOR and HUGE NUTRITION.”
Some judge all anchovies by their experience with brine-aged salty anchovy fillets commonly used on
pizza. White Anchovies are not brine treated; they are caught by small-scale vessels landing fresh
anchovies daily, which go straight into the can for a sardine-style packing process. Wild Planet’s White
Anchovies have a softness and delicate texture uncommon in canned fish. The unanimous reaction of
first time samplers is simply: WOW!
Wild Planet Anchovies will be available at natural and mainstream retailers across the country in early
2014 for an SRP of $2.79 to $2.99 for each 4.375oz (124g) easy open, pull top can.
