ANGLER PARTICIPATION AND CERTIFICATION FORM
2015 Gil Hamm Chapter Challunge Muskie Tournament

I, _____________________________________, acknowledge receipt of a current list of waters
infested with invasive species of plants and animals
(http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/eco/invasives/infested_waters.pdf). I also understand that under
Minnesota law,
I must:
1. Clean all aquatic plants and animals, zebra mussels, and other prohibited species off of
watercraft, trailers, and equipment before transport from any water access;
2. Drain all water from the boat’s bilge, livewell, motor, ballast tanks, and portable bait containers
before transport from water access or shoreland riparian property;
3. Keep the drain plug out and water draining devices open while transporting my watercraft.
I must not:
1. Transport aquatic plants, water, or prohibited invasive species on any boat, trailer, or other
water-related equipment on any road;
2. Transport water from any waters of the State regardless of infestation status;
3. Dump live bait into State waters, on shore, or on the ground.
I understand that transporting prohibited invasive species in Minnesota is subject to a $250 civil
penalty, launching is subject to $500 to $1000 civil penalties. Failure to comply with these and
other AIS rules will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law such as civil and criminal penalties
and/or the suspension of a watercraft license for up to a year.
Please take these steps to minimize the spread of invasive species:
 INSPECT and REMOVE aquatic plants & animals before entering/leaving the access.
 DRAIN all water before leaving the access.
 DISPOSE of unwanted live bait in the trash, not in the water or on land.
 RINSE with hot water, SPRAY with high pressure, and/or or DRY for five days before entering
another body of water.

Participants must fully complete and sign ONE of the following paragraphs:
1. I certify that the watercraft in which I will participate in this special event will not have been in any
of the listed infested waters for at least thirty (30) days prior to participation in the event; or, if the
watercraft has been in such infested waters within such thirty (30) day period, it will have been
completely dried (including all live wells, bilges, and other parts of the watercraft which are
capable of holding water) for a period of at least five (5) consecutive days prior to participation in
the event. By my signature below I acknowledge that I understand: 1) that a false certification is a
crime under Minnesota Law; and 2) that if the -watercraft identified below is placed in infested
waters within thirty (30) days prior to launching tournament waters and is not completely dry for
five (5) consecutive days during that period, I will be required by law to have the watercraft
inspected and cleaned by personnel approved by the tournament director.

2. I acknowledge that the watercraft in which I will participate in this special event has or may have
been in infested water(s) within thirty (30) days prior to participation in the event and may not be
completely dry (including all live wells, bilges, and other parts of the watercraft which are capable
of holding water) for at least five (5) consecutive days. By my signature below I acknowledge and
understand that it is a crime under Minnesota Law to participate in the event having not met these
conditions. As such, I will have my watercraft inspected and cleaned by personnel approved by
the tournament director prior to participation. As evidence of my compliance, I will securing a
written certification upon inspection and cleaning that the watercraft has been so inspected and
cleaned, and will provide certification to the organizers of the event prior to my participation.
