Maryland Swimming College Scholarship




Deadline for scholarship application: June 1 of each year
Submissions should be sent to Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee
The selections will be announced at the Maryland Swimming Long Course
Championship Meet.

NOTE: Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student’s institution, upon evidence of
registration in classes. This includes identification number and correct address of school’s
Bursar’s Office.
Award Components: Up to Six(6) $1,000 Scholarships awarded to Selected Athletes.
Criteria:
1. Applicant must be graduating high school in the class of (year).
2. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on 4.0 scale).
3. Applicant must have been involved in Maryland Swimming for four(4)
consecutive years prior to high school graduation.
4. Applicant must compete in at least four(4) meets per year in the 4 years prior to
applying for this scholarship.
5. Applicant must not be currently or in the past enrolled in a post high school
college institution as a full time student or ever competed representing a college
institution.

Two letters of Recommendation. One from a non-relative or non-coach / one from a
coach.
A list and brief description of any positions held with your team or the MD LSC. (if
applicable)
A list and brief description of any activities, other than practices and competitions, that
you have been involve with in swimming. (if applicable)
A list and brief description of any activities, outside of swimming, you are associated
with (organizations/volunteering, etc.)(if applicable)
Proof of college acceptance and enrollment.
Most Recent High School transcript.
Essay: “What lessons has swimming taught me and how will they help my immediate
and my long-range plans?”
