In VET programs, selection will be on a first come first served basis except
for those programs where it is clearly indicated on the CIT website that
specific skills or qualifications are required to enter the program.
In Higher Education programs, students are given a ranking score based
on either their educational record, work and other relevant experience
and/or an interview.
Universities
Admissions
Centre (UAC)
Processes applications for admission to most NSW and ACT
undergraduate courses at participating institutions including the CIT
Principles
1.
All students have equal opportunity to enrol in VET qualifications delivered by CIT.
2.
Student selection will not focus exclusively on educational achievement in relevant Year 12 or
tertiary qualifications courses, but include relevant work experience (paid or unpaid) and /or
an interest in the field of study or vocational area.
3.
For Higher Education programs if CIT uses UAC, students are provided with a Ranking score
which is uploaded onto the UAC system and then the Head of Department determines a cutoff number. All students with this ranking or higher are offered a place at CIT.
4.
Entry advice and, where applicable, additional selection information for each program will be
developed and documented as part of the program approval and accreditation process.
5.
Information on entry and selection for programs must be published, and accurately and fully
communicated to all potential applicants. Information regarding student selection must be
outlined in program curriculum and included on the CIT website. Information relating to CIT
Bachelor programs will also be outlined in the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) guide and
published on the Federal Government website.
6.
Entry advice is provided to ensure students have a reasonable chance of success in the
program. However, a small number of programs also have entry requirements and these must
be met and will be checked by CIT before an applicant is eligible for entry into the program.
7.
If there are a greater number of eligible applicants than places being offered, standard CIT
application and enrolment processes will be followed:
a. For VET, places will be awarded on a first come first served basis except for those
programs where it is clearly indicated on the CIT website that specific skills or
qualifications are required to enter the program
b. For Higher Education, students will be awarded a place on the basis of merit.
8.
All records of checked Entry Requirements are to be maintained by
a. the Teaching Colleges for all VET Programs they are responsible for and
b. the Information, Careers and Recognition area for higher education.
9.
Where an interview and/or portfolio forms part of the selection procedure, the purpose must
be clear and the format must include features identified as essential to success in the
program.
