The Costume Competition
If you would like to enter the costume competition you need to notify us on your arrival at the
Asylum when you collect your pass.
You should have prepared a card for Commodore Rankin who is compere again this year.
This card should have your real name, your steampunk name if you prefer (please underline
or highlight which one you want him to use) and a short description of no more than 100
words to be read out whilst you promenade in your costume.
You will be asked to report to the Drawing Room ten minutes before the costume
competition which will be at 16:00 on Saturday. You will be required to take part in the
costume parade on the stage in the main hall.
Our judging panel will award points in the following categories "Overall Impression",
"Quality of Execution" and "Interpretation" and the winner will be the person who receives
the best total score from all of the judges.
Whilst we have had restrictions on “furry” costumes at the Asylum due to hostility from this
community we are keen to build bridges. If you want to present a costume which could be
consider to be “fursuiting” this will be permitted PROVIDED YOU GAIN AGREEMENT IN
ADVANCE OF THE EVENT. Email majortinker@aol.com to discuss this. Please do not
wear fursuit elements elsewhere since this is contrary to our rules and you will be asked to
leave The Asylum.
Once again there will be certificates of commendation as well as titles/prizes.
