(insert plates to a maximum thickness of 65 mm [2.5 in.]) and Grade B for plates to a maximum thickness of 45 mm (1.75 in.) (insert plates to a maximum thickness of 65 mm [2.5 in.]). Boron additions are not permitted.

A678M, Grade B , and A841M, Class 2 materials may be increased to 585 MPa minimum and 690 MPa maximum. The tensile strength of the other listed materials may be increased to 515 MPa minimum and 620 MPa maximum. When this is done, the allowable stresses shall be determined as stated in 5.6.2.1 and 5.6.2.2.

Grade B , and A841M, Class 2 materials may be increased to 85,000 psi minimum and 100,000 psi maximum. The tensile strength of the other listed materials may be increased to 75,000 psi minimum and 90,000 psi maximum. When this is done, the allowable stresses shall be determined as stated in 5.6.2.1 and 5.6.2.2.

5.7.4.6 When used in stress-relieved assemblies, the material of quenched and tempered steels

A537, Cl 2, and A678 , Grade B, and of TMCP steel A841 shall be represented by test specimens that have been subjected to the same heat treatment as that used for the stress relieved assembly.
