Livestock:
Moderate to Heavy rainfall is expected from 30.11.2015 to 02.12.2015.
Avoid stagnation of water nearby animal shed to prevent vector born diseases to the animals.
Avoid feeding of wet dry fodders to the animals which will prevent detrimental effect caused by
aflatoxin and other mycotoxin.
Fumigation of livestock shed by using neem and notchi leaves will keep the mosquitoes and other
vectors away from the animals.
Sheep and goats should be housed in elevated area to avoid foot rot and apply neem oil to the foot.
During rainy time kids, lambs and calves are to be protected from rain and chillness by covering with
gunny bags and side wall may be covered. Provide adequate bedding for calves, kids and lambs and also
providing lights to keep them warmer.
Feed ingredient for the concentrate feed should be stored in rainproof areas to avoid development of
aflatoxin.
Wet bedding material from the poultry shed should be replaced with fresh bedding materials to avoid
ammonia odour
Agriculture (Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kattupakkam)
Imp.Crops: Rice, Sugarcane and Groundnut
In water stagnation areas farmers are advised to apply foliar spray of urea 1% + Zinc sulphate 0.5 % (200
liters of water + 2 kg urea +1 kg zinc sulphate/acre) may be hand sprayed in the morning and evening
hours for the tillering and flowering stage crops.
Farmers are advised to do seed treatment with carbendazim (0.05 %) to reduces the incidence of
Fusarium root rot in nursery.
Excess water in the paddy field and other crops should be drained out.

In the prevailing weather having high cloud cover and humidity there is
incidence of leafhopper and whitefly in cotton. The ETL for leafhopper is
50 nymphs or adults/ 50 leaves. The ETL for whitefly is 5- 10 insect/ trap.
When the incidence crosses the ETL spray imidacloprid 200 SL 100 ml/ ha
or neem oil 3% thrice at fortnightly
intervals.
The prevailing weather is conducive for the incidence of shoot and fruit
borer. Wilting occurs in the affected plants. Remove the affected terminal
shoots showing boreholes. Remove the affected fruits and destroy. Spray
chlorpyriphos 20% EC 1.0 ml/ lit (or) Emamectin benzoate 5% SG @ 4g/
10 lit starting from one month after planting at 15 days interval.
In the prevailing weather with high cloud cover and humidity is favour for
the incidence of semilooper. For controlling this pest spray quinolphos
25% EC 1 ml/ lit.
The prevailing weather with high cloud cover and humidity is conducive
for the incidence of yellow mosaic disease. The disease is spreaded by the
vector whitefly. Rogue out the infected plants upto 45 days. Setup yellow
sticky trap 12 nos./ ha. For controlling the vector spray dimethoate 30 EC
500 ml/ ha or methyl demeton 25 EC 500 ml/ ha.
As rainfall is expected in the coming days provide adequate drainage in
the field.

Imp. Crop: Rice
Samba: Tillering; Thaladi : Transplanting
Provide adequate drainage facilities to drain the excess rainwater present in the paddy fields to improve better
aeration in the root zone.
Since moderate to heavy rainfall is expected after two days, top dressing of fertilizer in samba and basal
application for in Thaladi paddy may be postponed. The fertilizer application may do immediately after the rain is
over.
Samba paddy fields to eliminate or rectify nutrient deficiency, top dressing can be done (22 kg urea + 18 kg
gypsum + 4 kg neem cake mixed well and keep it over night and add 10 kg MOP before top dressing).
Bacterial Leaf Blight and Bacterial Leaf Streaks are being noticed in the samba paddy due to prevailing weather
condition. To control this spray fresh cow dung extract 20%(Dissolve 40 kg of cowdung in 100 litre of water and kept
for overnight then supernatant solution is collected from this after that add 100 litre of water then sprayed for 1
acre) twice (Starting from initial appearance of the disease and another at fortnightly interval) or copper hydroxide
at 500 g/ac in 200 litre of water.
Leaf folder incidence is being noticed in the samba paddy fields due to prevailing weather condition. To manage
this, spray chlorpyriphos 500 ml or Profenophos 400 ml/acre with 200 ltrs of water.
BPH incidence is being noticed in the samba paddy fields. To manage the BPH incidence in field, drain the excess
water and also give aeration to crop.
To manage this spray, Thiamethoxam 40g/acre or Buprofezin 25 SC 320 ml/acre towards the base of the tillers.

Agro Advisory
Considering the monsoon season and consumption of grasses, deworming may be given to sheep, goat, cattle and
milch animals.
In irrigated turmeric, considering the high relative humidity, low minimum temperature and high wind speed,
epidemic on leaf spot disease may occur. Spray carbendazim (1g/1lit of water) or 2g of Mancozeb per liter of water.
With the last week of continuous rainfall, tuber rot has been noticed in tapioca. Spot drenching with copper oxy
chloride@ 2.5g per liter of water may be done.
Due to rain damage, the crops like cotton and maize are affected. Watermelon may be sown in those areas with a
seed rate of 3.5kg/ha with seed treatment of Pseudomonas florescence @ 10g/kg of seed.
