socio-biological factors on reproductive behaviour in Karachi among others. Her research work has received support
from a variety of sources including the Word Bank, International Planned Parenthood Federation, John Snow Inc. (JSI),
The Population Council, The Asia Foundation and AKU Research Grant Commission, NIH USA. Dr Saleem was the

Dr Saleem has extensive field experience to conduct community based research in urban squatter settlements and rural
areas. She remained consultant to various national and international organizations such as JSI, United Nations Population
Fund (UNFPA), Population Council; providing training on reproductive health research methodologies. She had
completed an extensive review of the maternal health research in Pakistan in 2002. She serves as a reviewer for a number
of indexed and non-indexed local and international peer reviewed journals. She has served on the steering committee for a
national study on estimates of induced abortions by Population Council Islamabad and for HOPE, a local NGO working
