Key Worker – Sessional – Matthews Hub
Matthew’s Hub is a charity, local to the Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire,
providing support for people with Asperger’s Syndrome and High Functioning Autism
in the local area. Matthew’s Hub is part of FIND Charity who provide support for
people with autism and severe learning disabilities.
Matthew’s Hub provides social opportunities, support and services for individuals
with High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. Our aim is to promote
effective communication, facilitate the development of friendships, and reduce social
isolation.
The Post
Responsible to senior staff of Matthews Hub, Key workers will work directly with
members to ensure the personal, social and developmental needs of members are
met.
We are offering a unique opportunity to gain experience in supporting high
functioning individuals on the spectrum. This position would suit someone who has
an understanding/interest in Autism, the person would need to be able to work on
their own initiative, be a good communicator, motivated, caring and be capable of
managing challenging behaviour. You will need to be able to work flexibly within the
hours of 8 am – 10 pm Monday to Saturday.
Principal Accountabilities
To provide the highest standard of support to service users with Asperger’s
Syndrome and High Functioning Autism, supporting members in all areas of their
lives.
To work as part of the staff team, under supervision of senior staff members in order
to implement support plans.
Support individual service users to overcome any fears and to enjoy facilities
provided and to retain their own independence as far as possible, by sympathetic
listening, talking and by respecting at all times the individual client’s right to privacy
and dignity.
The post holder will work within Matthew’s Hub policies and procedures including
those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection, Equal Opportunities and
Safeguarding Vulnerable People.
To ensure compliance with Health and Safety Procedures including fire evacuation in
the event of an emergency.
Participate in appropriate training, staff development and Quality Assurance.
Ensure the delivery of agreed support plans to a high standard of quality in line with
Matthew’s Hub Core Values.
Maintain an effective/consistent reporting system that supports the client through
liaison with their carers/parents and any identified agencies.
Undertake all duties as requested by Senior Staff or Trustees to meet the needs of
individual clients.
General Information
The above principal accountabilities are not exhaustive and may vary without
changing the character of the job or level of responsibilities.
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other associated legislation places
responsibilities for Health and Safety on all employees. Therefore it is the post
holder’s responsibilities to take reasonable care for Health and Safety and Welfare of
her/himself and other employees in accordance with legislation.
