Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioners (RNCP)
Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioners (RNCP) are professionals trained in holistic nutrition and
complementary therapies. RNCPs can educate you about the benefits of a sound nutritional program and
healthy lifestyle to encourage your body to achieve optimum health and energy. RNCPs follow a code of
ethics.
RNCPs can assess individual nutritional imbalances and weaknesses to enhance your immune system and
recommend specific diets and nutritional support to help you build and maintain well-being.
RNCPs can help you make the best possible food choices. It is important to eat a variety of foods to
ensure all essential nutrients are included in the diet. An RNCP will introduce new dietary habits,
incorporating the latest nutritional breakthroughs. However, it may be difficult to achieve optimal health
through food alone. In such cases, RNCPs are trained to design personalized dietary supplement
programs.
RNCPs can help you navigate confidently through this maze, designing an individualized program
respecting your unique biochemistry and enhancing your well-being. In the past, it was the custom to
follow the Canada Food Guide in order to achieve dietary wellness. However, we now are aware that it
does not meet the nutritional requirements for superior health. It does not meet even basic requirements
for everyone, as we are all different, and our dietary needs vary greatly.
Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner™ (ROHP)
Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner™ (ROHP) is the designation given by IONC to a qualified
healthcare professional that specializes in maintaining or restoring biochemistry and physiology in the
body for optimum health and well-being. Orthomolecular Health practitioners assess the unique dietary
and nutritional requirements of an individual and utilize a full spectrum of customized naturotherapies
including: diet and nutritional supplements, detoxification, and drainage. Only practitioners who meet
IONC standards may refer to themselves as a Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner (ROHP).
Definition of "Orthomolecular"
The term "Orthomolecular" literally means 'correct molecules,' with the molecules being vitamins,
minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and essential fatty acids that are essential for proper functioning of the
body.
Orthomolecular therapy is health preservation and disease prevention with supplementation (sometimes in
high doses) of substances normally present in the body.

About the IONC
RNCPs and ROHPs are certified by the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants
(IONC). The IONC is a voluntary, non-profit, incorporated organization. It was founded in 1983 to create
public awareness about holistic nutritional consulting and to regulate the standards of education for
holistic nutritional consultants.
Professional members of IONC are those who have met its strict educational and ethical standards.
By law, anyone may call themselves a nutritional counsellor, but only those who have thoroughly studied
nutrition and have met the requirements of IONC are granted the RNCP or ROHP designation. Many
extended health care plans are now covering RNCP service fees for IONC members.

Holistic Nutrition
Seeing a nutritional consultant can be a wise choice for just about anyone, however, it may be especially
beneficial during special times of life such as during pregnancy, while practising competitive sports, or
when preparing for surgery or while struggling with an illness or condition.
Nutritional Consultants can identify nutritional causes of disease and correct the imbalance since poor
nutrition can be the root cause of a wide range of health disorders.
