The new Kaba smart key – a single key for all systems
Dreieich, 23 September 2014 – The success story that is the Kaba reversible key
continues: The Kaba smart key makes a combination of mechanical and electronic access
control and time recording possible. Thanks to the additional electronic identification,
mechanical locking systems become more secure and IDs superfluous.
Access authorisation is checked at the electronic locking components using the RFID chip integrated into the
head of the key, whilst the reversible key can be used to operate a mechanical locking cylinder. This makes
the Kaba smart key an ideal 'best of both worlds' solution. It can be programmed with currently available
management software such as Kaba evolo Manager or Kaba exos, and as such offers all of the advantages
of flexible authorisation assignment.
In terms of technology, the Kaba smart key supports the latest RFID technologies from LEGIC and MIFARE,
meeting all current security requirements as a result. Furthermore, it is compatible with all currently available
Kaba key systems, such as Kaba star, quattro pluS, experT pluS, and so on. To fit or upgrade the
mechanical key with electronic components, simply attach the new Kaba smart key clip to the head of the
key.
Another new feature is the sophisticated black design of the key clip. The replaceable clip markings, which
come in different colours – silver-grey, blue, green, red, purple and yellow – can be used to help with
organisation. This means it can be quickly identified during daily use, while the small dimensions allow it to fit
comfortably into your pocket. It also has an impressive reading distance and level of flexibility when used
with electronic access devices.
