Archaeological Technician
Duty Location: Willows, CA
POSITION: Primary purpose of these positions is to provide technical support to the heritage resources staff.
Archaeological Data and/or Documentation Preparation
Makes recommendations to be used in "determinations of effect" and "determinations of eligibility" by the
archaeologist. Compiles and reports information about the nature and extent of known cultural resources in
the form of site records, isolate records, and monitoring forms. Performs background research for the
completion of forms and reports.
Fieldwork in Support of Archaeological Surveys
Performs a full range of archaeological support tasks that consist of many exacting steps, or which require
specialized methods to perform, such as adapting ground search strategies to suit specific projects' terrain,
vegetation cover, and time frames. Participates in archaeological excavation work that may include work with
volunteers. Work involves daily travel, bending, lifting, walking in steep, uneven terrain, and being exposed to
natural hazards such as poison oak and rattlesnakes.
