Dear friends,
Happy New Year! We are so thankful to have all of you praying for us and supporting God’s
work at Buried Treasures Home. You are impacting many lives as the women here grow in Christ.
We had an active and purposeful (sometimes restful) holiday season. Much of December
was spent getting the ladies enrolled at Hinds Community College, going to Christmas parties, or
being the recipient of a number of visitors to the home bringing their bounty of blessings. January
has been equally busy. Here are a few highlights:
On December 6th, each woman told her story at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Rankin
County. You can see this service if you go to www.buriedtreasureshome.com and click on photo
gallery. A number of the ladies’ family members were able to join us for the Carols by Candlelight
service at FBC Jackson. We all attended Ballet Magnificat one Sunday afternoon. To our great joy,
one of our ladies, Savanah, decided to be baptized. She accepted Christ soon after arriving at BTH.
She said she wanted to know God in prison but didn’t know how. When she got to BTH, she
learned how and her team leader, Rosemary, was the one who led her to this decision. Pastor Clark
had the joy of baptizing her on December 20th at FBC Jackson.
On December 7, a busload of members of Pocahontas Baptist Church came to BTH loaded
down with gifts for the ladies. They also brought a delicious meal for everyone. This was a beautiful
way to begin thinking about Christmas. A picture is on the next page!
The Buried Treasures Christmas party was a huge event at First Baptist Jackson on
December 9. Over 200 children of incarcerated parents were given much love, presented with the
gospel and showered with gifts. We are so thankful for the volunteers who made this possible.
For seven of the eight ladies here, school at Hinds started in January. We are happy to report
that they’ve had a positive, challenging and successful two weeks. Some report finding Christian
teachers who are helping them, vouching for them, and blessing them. A few have noticed that they
are the “oldest” ones in their classes! One doesn't seem to have any Christian teachers and may even
be dealing with strange worldviews from one of her teachers. Pray for her and those teachers.
Another lady had 2 young students ask her what she was reading from the Bible on one of her
breaks. She was able to share with them and they wanted to know if she would come back. Another
of our ladies said, "I'm learning about commas. I've never used commas my whole life!"
A local ophthalmologist blessed us by donating eight eye exams. Some of the ladies have
new glasses! Dental exams are in the works too. All of this is part of the healthy lifestyle choices we
are teaching based on biblical principles. The blessings multiply: a Sunday School class at First (over)

Baptist Jackson gave us a donation that has allowed us to buy a treadmill and portable basketball
goal. A young Troop 8 boy scout completed his Eagle project here in January by constructing an allweather outdoor walking track around the lake. See the picture below!
The mayor of Byram, Richard White, and the leader of the Byram Business Association, Hal
Lusk, both attended a Monday night meal in January. They, along with the many others in
attendance, heard three of our ladies tell their stories and how Jesus has changed their lives. The city
of Byram is booming and God is using that to help BTH.
More than we could ask or imagine, God is blessing BTH. We believe and daily witness the
great truth of Ephesians 3:20-21. God gets all the praise and glory. Please pray doubly hard that the
enemy will be kept at bay. Here are some specifics to pray for and give to:
- New hot water heaters for the cottages are still a real need
- Pray for all the ladies to continue the remarkable progress they have all made in their
Christian discipleship.
- Pray for the 2 team leaders (Rosemary and Brandy)
- Pray for the ladies to keep appropriate boundaries at school
- Pray for the ladies to balance the time for their college work with their spiritual and
physical disciplines.
- Pray for Clark and Valerie to walk in the Spirit always, remembering that the only
thing that counts is faith expressing itself in love. (Galatians 5:6)
Another way you can support Buried Treasures Home is when you purchase from Amazon. Go
to http://smile.amazon.com/ and put Buried Treasures Home as your charity of choice. A portion
of your purchase price is donated directly to BTH. By the way, check out our new website if you
have not already done so: www.buriedtreasureshome.com
We would love to hear from you. Message us on Facebook. Email us or write to us. Come out
on a Monday night. Keep us ever in prayer before the Father.
Bless All of You!
