SUMMERTIME BBQs.

The club will not be having a BBQ at Barnsgate Manor this year; the committee are looking for an alternative venue.

In addition, Carole Rochford has kindly offered to host a

BBQ at her new home near Lamberhurst.

It would be lovely to have more BBQs over the summer.

If you would consider hosting a BBQ, please contact David

M, to discuss details.

NEWS FROM EVENTS

Blues Night at Cross Keys – Hosted by Steve

Although three members had to drop out through illness, seven of us braved the elements to turn up at a packed

Cross Keys and were rewarded with an enjoyable evening of Blues by virtuoso guitarist Danny Kyle accompanying legendary 60s & 70s rock singer Nicky Moore, whose remarkable voice proved to still be in fine fettle.

They performed a mix of their own original material and covers, the highlights being "Georgia On My Mind", Robert

Johnson's "Sweet Home Chicago" & Sam Cooke's "Bring It

On Home To Me".

As on previous Blues nights there was a vibrant atmosphere in this lovely pub, and it's really heartening to see more & more attending and supporting live music.

Steve.

Sun 22nd February, Jazz Lunch. Hosted by Janice

Five members met up for Sunday lunch at the Royal Oak, Prospect Road on the 22nd February.

We received our normal very warm welcome, and the pub was busy with its loyal local clientele.

Sunday roast was served with all the trimmings and a plentiful selection of fresh vegetables at the reasonable cost of £10. I joined Denise in the vegetarian option (still trying to shift those extra

Xmas pounds) which didn't quite work out as it came with a helping of chips.

The meal was enjoyed with the background trad and blues jazz provided by the versatile Bob Bernard who plays solo on the saxophone, clarinet and flute. - Janice
