ASIG’s policy for fuel spill cleanup is a multistep process that includes containment,
notification, cleanup, and reporting. All ASIG fuel agents are trained and instructed that in the
event of a fuel spill they are to perform the following tasks:
1) Contain the spill through the use of absorbent socks and absorbent pads.
2) Once contained contact the supervisor on duty.
3) In the event the spill cannot be completely cleaned up through the use of absorbent socks
and pads, the Fuel Farm is to be contacted to bring a vacuum truck out to vacuum up the spill.
4) The supervisor on duty is to notify the department manager, HS&E manager, Station
Manager, and American Airlines tower MOD
5) Once the amount of fuel that has been spilled has been estimated, the supervisor is to notify
the American Airlines tower MOD of the amount, who can in turn make the decision if the fire
department is required.
6) In the event oil dry or speedy dry is required for spill cleanup, ASIG will contact Air Check
to have the gate cleaned.
7) Once the spill has been completely cleaned up the supervisor on duty will enter the spill into
SHEEBA, the ASIG incident notification portal.
