Definition/Rationale: Secondary school teachers are content specialists. Content specialization changes as new knowledge is created (e.g., in science) and information is re-interpreted (e.g., history). Secondary
school teachers must remain current in their content specialization and this is achieved via lifelong learning and professional development.
