Purpose of Services
Midrange Services is responsible for planning, designing,
building, operating and supporting the Department’s technology
infrastructure and shared services. We are looking for a dedicated
professional to assist the Branch in completing a number of
technology initiatives including Sharepoint 2012, Microsoft
Dynamics CRM, the System Centre suite of products, and 3rd
level product support.
The primary role of a senior windows infrastructure engineer is to
maintain, configure and support the multiple IT environments
maintained by the SSC. Specifically, the duties of an
infrastructure engineer will be to provide support for the
Microsoft suite of infrastructure products, to provide server
production support, to assist development teams in solution
design, and to provide 3rd level support for infrastructure related
issues.
As part of Midrange Services, the Senior Windows Infrastructure
engineer will be part of a team which is responsible for the
availability and operational effectiveness of the mid-range
environment. The infrastructure engineer would possess the

The capability to provide third level support for the
Departments Microsoft based IT infrastructure.
The design, configuration and support of the multiple
Sharepoint Internal and External Farms maintained by the
SSC.
Design, configuration and support for the Microsoft
Dynamics CRM installations within the SSC environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
A thorough knowledge of Threat Management Gateway
The ability to produce architecture diagrams, operational
guides, installation guides, troubleshooting documentation
and best practice guidelines.
Conversant with virtualisation technologies specifically
Hyper V.
Able to assist with the planning, monitoring and management
of the day to day operations of Midrange Services
Assist with training and development of staff in relation to
infrastructure support protocols, knowledge and skills.
Selection criteria

1) In a Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment,
demonstrated technical competence and proficiency in;
a) The design, provision and implementation of complex
SharePoint 2010 and 2012 farms.
b) The design, implementation and support of complex
Microsoft Dynamics CRM installations, both on-premise
and CRM Online.
c) The implementation of High-Availability solutions such
as Windows Clustering Services in a MS SQL Server and
Hyper-V environment.
2) Demonstrated ability to manage, isolate, diagnose and restore
services in a medium to large Microsoft Windows/Active
Directory environment in the following Microsoft products:
a) Sharepoint 2010/2012
b) Windows 2012R2 Server
c) Active Directory
3) Demonstrated knowledge of Windows security and associated
technologies such as Kerberos, particularly when used with
IIS, MSDTC and RPC in a multi-Forest environment.
4) Ability to provide innovative and cost effective solutions to
common IT problems and requirements.
5) Well developed communication skills, including:
a) Read, comprehend and write technical material

effectively;
b) Negotiation and liaison skills;
c) Ability to communicate with staff from technical and nontechnical backgrounds, and
d) Presentation skills.

Role Location: Canberra City
All Candidates must be Australian Citizens to be considered for
the role.
Security Clearance Requirements
The minimum security clearance level for this particular position
is: Baseline
All positions are “Trusted” and the successful candidate is
required to undertake police check to be conducted by the
department. Unfavourable outcome may result to early
termination of the contract. This check will be arranged by the
Shared Services Centre on commencement of the contractor. The
Australian Government will meet the cost of police check.
