Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Evening Events Coordinator the Student Event
Managers will be responsible for supervising all logistics of events. They are in charge of overseeing
the operation of programs, supervising the student staff including: Event Monitors and Audio Visual
Technicians as well as the customers of the student union programs. It is imperative for the Event
Manager to be familiar with all aspects of the Student Union Events including the technical
equipment, the box office procedures and the Student Union Building Policies and Event Services
Policies.
Responsibilities Include:
 Oversee the operations of events in large programming spaces in and around the Student Union
 Unlock facility and make sure everything is set for the program- lights are on, necessary doors
are unlocked.
 Supervise and assist Event Monitors and Audio Visual Technicians.
 Review the Reservation Confirmation for the specific scheduled program and share necessary
information with the staff.
 Greet the customer upon arrival. Introduce yourself as the Student Event Manager.
 Introduce the audio visual technician(s) to the customer and make sure all technical aspects of
the program are understood and accounted for.
 Make yourself visible during the program. Assist with any issues/ concerns. Make note of any
problems/incidents that occur during the event, as well as an approximate attendance count.
 Make sure that the event starts and ends at the scheduled time. Assist the Event Monitors, the
student coordinator and the volunteers with clearing out the facility. Make sure the group
cleaned up, as needed.
 At the end of each program inspect the facility for damages and cleanliness and document issues
to be addressed. Contact the maintenance staff for assistance if needed.
 Respond to customer questions and concerns. Periodically check in with the customer.
 Be aware of emergency procedures and be able to assist with the evacuation of the venue if
needed.
 Complete appropriate Event Report, noting anything that happened during your shift and all staff
that worked; email and save the Event Report.
 Complete other tasks that are assigned.
 Attend event manager meetings.
 Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
 Cross train in Event Service front office for coverage
Requirements:
 Ability to interact with people.
 Ability to communicate clearly on a face-to-face basis with customers.
 Ability to work under the supervision of student peers and with student peer customers.
 Ability to work independently when necessary.
 Responsible with money can make and count out change
 Must be available to work a flexible schedule. Depending on scheduled events, hours will vary
