Postgraduate Certificate Pre-Application Form

STEaPP welcomes initial expressions of interest (i.e pre-application) from potential students.

Applicants who wish to begin studies with UCL STEaPP in April 2016 are asked to complete this form for an initial review by STEaPP before submitting a full formal application through UCL online systems.

Please note that this pre-application does not replace the formal application process, and applicants will still be required to fulfil the

UCL application procedures and policies for entry to study, including the submission of supporting documents (i.e relevant transcripts, references etc) once the application portal is available later in the year.

Once completed, the applicant should send their Postgraduate Certificate Pre-Application Form and the required supporting documents by email to steapp.admissions@ucl.ac.uk

7. Supplementary Personal Statement

Describe your academic interest and reasons for applying. Detail your career objectives and any relevant non-academic achievements. When assessing your application, we would particularly like to learn:

What factors led you to apply to the programme

How your academic and professional background meets the demands of this challenging programme, and how it would enable you to achieve your long term career goals

How you will manage your participation in the programme, both in terms of attendance and your external commitments (work/family life etc)

Together with the essential academic requirements, the personal statement is your opportunity to illustrate whether your reasons for applying to this programme match what the programme will deliver. Please use a maximum of 500 words.

As part of your application, you are asked to develop a response to the following question. Your response should be no more than 500 words (maximum);

‘Describe and analyse a public policy, or regulatory issue, from within your own region. Please choose an issue that incorporates a good governance angle, for example: Social and Economic considerations, promoting competition, attracting investment , consumer welfare etc’

9. Declaration

To the best of my knowledge, the information on this application is accurate and complete (please note that UCL reserves the right to refuse admission or terminate a student’s attendance should it be discovered that he/she has made a false statement or has omitted significant information). If you are offered a place, you will be required to provide evidence of your qualifications upon enrolment.

Recommendation letters/references from two referees (these may either be provided with the application pack you are submitting, or may be sent to UCL STEaPP directly by the referee using the email address below)
