All course discontinuation are due during Stage 1 Resource and Planning as they affect
CDU’s Higher Education Profile.

This proforma should be used when a course is being discontinued as follows;
• removed from CDU’s HE course profile completely
• Course Replaced - a new course is being developed however its implementation
results in the discontinuation of a current award.
Do not use this from if the current course is being accredited or superseded. A course
Transitional Arrangements form should be used for Reaccredited and Superseding
Courses. Further information can be found on the Stage 1 Resource and Planning
Guide.

Transition/Teach Out Arrangements
Schools need to consider how the discontinuation of this course will affect current students.
Where a course has been replaced by another course, students might be encouraged to transfer to the new
course. If the discontinued course has not been replaced or where students will be disadvantaged by
transferring to the new course
When a course is discontinued or is superseded:
• Transition/completion arrangements for existing students must be clearly documented and
disseminated to all existing students;
• As far as possible, students shall not be disadvantaged by the transition/completion;
• The course will be offered for re-enrolment only until all existing students have completed/transitioned
or for a period defined in the Common Course Rules;

completing alternative units.
