Mr. Pifer has over 35 years of catastrophe response and management
experience on the staff and independent side of the claims industry. He
started his career with Allstate in Detroit and worked his first “cat” in 1978.
After leaving Allstate he moved to the independent side of the claim
business, working for a national independent firm for the next 27years. His
duties as Vice President of Catastrophe at that firm were to sell and execute
catastrophe plans to 815 insurance companies throughout the U.S. Mr. Pifer
joined State Auto in 2007 as the Corporate Claims Catastrophe Manager
responsible for the execution of State Auto’s catastrophe plan including their
staff cat teams, contract cat adjusters and national cat vendors. He has
served as a speaker on a variety of claims technical and management topics
for insurance related groups such as the National Association of Catastrophe
Adjusters (NACA), PCS Catastrophe Conference, PLRB/LIRB and Windstorm
Insurance Network (WIND).
