The Revelation Mystery - Part 1
Wk of 8-03-15
Hello friends and welcome to the first broadcast of the Everlasting Gospel ministry in your area.
You will find this to be a totally different type of religious broadcasting as we recognize that we are living
in the final generation of the earth’s 6,000 year nightmare that the sins of Adam and Eve plunged us
into.
My name is Richard Vaughn and at the age of 21, 55 years ago, I accepted Christ into my life
and eventually became a pastor. In Isaiah 58:1 it says to “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like
a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” That is
exactly what my ministry is about. I do not believe in political correctness and I will call a sin by its right
name. Why? Because Jesus died to save us from our sins, not in them.
Jesus will be coming soon and Satan has been preparing the Christian world to receive the mark
of the beast, so as to keep Christians in a lost condition while they think themselves saved.
In Revelation chapters 2 & 3 we read about the seven churches which had a meaning for those
churches in the first century, but it had a second meaning for the seven periods of the Christian church.
Since 1844 we have been living in the seventh and final period. Listen to how the church sees itself
and God shows us how He sees the church in Revelation 3:17, “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and
increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and
miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” God goes on to show us how we can correct this pitiful
condition.
Here is what the Everlasting Gospel ministry broadcast will be doing in the months ahead. We
are going to be studying the two most important books of prophecy in the Bible, Daniel in the Old
Testament and Revelation in the New Testament. Can we understand these two Books? Well that is a
good and fair question and I want to answer it this way. We have a loving Father who gave us a loving
Savior. Never was it God’s intention to confuse a sincere seeker for truth. These studies are very
relevant for this generation.
Before we begin today, let us with reverence, seek the God’s presence. Heavenly Father as we
begin our study today, let us not do so without your blessing and the Holy Spirit to give us
understanding, for we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
Jesus often spoke in parables, not to confuse the sincere followers, but to withhold truth from
those with evil intent. God will withhold the correct understanding of His prophecies from those today
who are wise in their own eyes and have selfish motives, while revealing the precious truths to babes
in the faith.
Become a regular listener to The Everlasting Gospel broadcasts and you will have an education
in Revelation that Pharisaical theologians will never have, unless they become like the Publican that
could see his own unworthiness. You see the Bible interprets itself, so we don’t lean on any human
wisdom to reach an understanding.
The very word Revelation means “to reveal” and it comes from the Greek word “Apokalupsis”
which means “unveiling the future.” I have heard many people make statements like, “Oh that’s a closed
book and we shouldn’t read it,” or “My pastor said we can’t understand Revelation.”
Excuse me!
Let’s read the first three verses and see if it is as others have said. I will be reading from the
King James Version. In a future broadcast, I will explain why I believe this is the most accurate version,
especially in understanding relevant last day prophecies.
Revelation chapter 1 and verse 1. “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto
him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and

signified it by his angel unto his servant John:” In this first verse we are told that Revelation is a
book which the Father gave to Jesus Christ. With it He was to show His servants future events. He
signified it or sign-e-fied it, which means He added symbols and then had His angel Gabriel deliver it
to John who wrote it for God’s church as a clear roadmap into the future.
Verse 2. “Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and
of all things that he saw.” This is speaking of John the revelator who both saw and wrote the entire
book that God’s people would have through the ages.
Verse 3. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and
keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” God says that a blessing is
in store for those who read and hear the words of this book and who keep those things written therein.
Why would any pastor tell his or her flock not to read Revelation when God will bless those that do? I
ask you this question, “Could it be that Revelation might contain something that might be contrary to
what he or she may be teaching you? Or maybe God will not allow them to understand Revelation for
reasons known only to God. I don’t believe they intentionally mean harm, but if they were to employ
any deception, they are being unfaithful shepherds. I pray that is not the case in your situation.
I will say that it is important to have a teacher to guide you that you can test by the scriptures, in
your studies of the book Revelation, and the book of Daniel for that matter. Daniel in the Old Testament
and Revelation in the New Testament go together like a hand in the glove. Each one is needed to
understand the other.
There are those who say that they are New Testament Christians only, and that they do not need
to read the Old Testament. If that has been you, let me say why it may be time to rethink that position.
When Jesus walked on the earth there was no New Testament. Hundreds of prophecies concerning
Jesus’ first advent were written by the prophets and it is by those prophecies that the Messiah-ship of
Jesus is proven. He Himself said in John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have
eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” The only scriptures that He was referring to in
His command to search was the Old Testament, as the New Testament was yet to be written. And
there are many Old Testament prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled, so let’s not throw it out.
Here is another important fact to understand; the book of Revelation rests upon the foundation
of Old Testament history, imagery, and prophecy. The book of Revelation has 404 verses, more than
270 of those verses are taken directly from the Old Testament. The New Testament is standing on the
foundation of the Old Testament, particularly the book of Revelation. To begin the study of the book of
Revelation without a little understanding of the book of Daniel is almost like trying to study college
trigonometry without high-school math.
In 2 Timothy 3:16 the Bible says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” So how much
scripture, it says all scripture, both the Old and New Testament, though written by 40 men over a period
of between 1500 and 1600 years, was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Let us not grieve
the Holy Spirit with careless statements like the Old Testament is irrelevant.
For the remainder of this and next week’s broadcast, I am going to give you a brief outline of the
22 books of Revelation, which we will be studying in the weeks and months to come.
Jesus Christ is the foundation and focus of apocalyptic prophecy and particularly in the book
of Revelation.
John 1:29 says, “Behold, the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.”
The book of Revelation refers to Jesus Christ as the Lamb 26 times, while He is mentioned as
the Lamb only 5 additional times in the rest of the New Testament.

When many people look at the book of Revelation, they’re looking at beasts, they’re looking at
dragons, their looking at incredible imagery, and symbols; but notice how Jesus Christ is the focus in
Revelation.
As already stated in Revelation 1:1 “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto
him, ...”
Revelation 1: verses 1-8 – we discover The preeminent Christ.
Revelation 1: verses 9-11 – speaks of The Lord’s Day
Revelation 1: verses 12-20 – we see Jesus among the seven churches
Revelation Chapters 2 & 3 – Christ’s messages go to the churches. Ephesus, then Smyrna,
Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and finally Laodicea. Those were the 7 churches in John
the revelator’s time. We are going to learn of the dual application of the seven periods in the Christian
church history.
Revelation 4 - The throne of God.
Revelation 5 - Seven seals and Christ as the Lamb is the worthy Lion of the Tribe of Judah,
the Root of David.”
Revelation 6 & 7 - A potent message from Christ Himself. Revelation 6 shows Christ as the
Lamb opening the book that has the seals. The emphasis is not so much on the contents as it is on
who is opening the book. So Christ is again preeminent in Revelation.
Revelation 7 - 144,000 before the throne who follow the Lamb.
Revelation 8 & 9 - Seven trumpets blowing
Revelation 10– A mighty and angelic being bears a striking resemblance to the picture of Jesus
in Chapter 1. A thorough study will reveal that it is not an angelic being, but that it is Jesus. The word
angel means messenger and Jesus has a special message for the whole world. A very interesting
study.
Revelation 11 - Two witnesses witnessing about Jesus. Already fulfilled and misunderstood by
many.
Revelation 12 - Great battle or Controversy between Christ and Satan.
In our next broadcast, we will conclude our brief outline of the relevance of Jesus in the remaining
10 chapters of Revelation. Then in two weeks we are going to begin our first full study on one of the
most misunderstood Bible doctrines, and that is the mystery of death, a subject the Bible makes crystal
clear. May God make His word crystal clear to your understanding.
