Corporate Governance and Services
The Corporate Governance and Services Group’s key purpose is to drive organisational
excellence. Enabling the Guild at all levels to achieve its objectives through its strategic and
forward looking focus in its functional areas. By doing so, it is ensuring that the Guild remains
financially viable to support Guild Members within the network.

Economic Data Analyst – Corporate Governance and Services
Business Intelligence
The purpose of the Business Intelligence (BI) team is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness
of the use of Guild data to provide economic and analytical products, services, and advice to the
National Secretariat and National Committees for the benefit of members. The team will bring
together cross functional capability to ensure the objects of the Guild’s Corporate Plan are
supported by robust analytics. This includes the provision of products and services to support
member needs as well as the industry as a whole.
Role Responsibilities of Economic Data Analyst
This position provides analytical support to the National Manager, Economics and Business
Intelligence through the creation of quantitative forecasting models, statistical analysis of data
and contextualising results in the context of economic and financial implications.
Key role responsibilities and duties












Assist the National Manager, Economics and Business Intelligence with economic analysis
and forecasting tasks
Provide advice and analytical services to internal business areas
With the assistance of the National Manager, Economics and Business Intelligence,
maintain the 6CPA remuneration model
Communicate with members regarding changes in the PBS and the pharmacy industry.
Facilitate the use of a broad range of data relating to community pharmacy, the
Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and the health care system, including analysis and
manipulation of existing data sets, the cleaning of data and sourcing new data sets as
required.
Produce forecasting models through the use of quantitative techniques.
Derive empirical results by collating, summarizing and analysing data from varied sources
including combining data from different workbooks, the web and incoming data from
pharmacies/ related groups in various formats.
Apply technical and analysis skills to solve problems both independently and under direct
guidance.
Assist in the statistical analysis of survey results to provide meaningful inferences
Summarise findings of analysis work into written reports communicating results
quantitatively, qualitatively and graphically.
Assist in the delivery of specific Guild products, including but not limited to ScriptMAP,
Guild Digest, Rental Report, Turnover Monitor, international pharmacy statistics and adhoc surveys of Guild members.
Support the enhancement of the Guild’s financial advice and analytical capacities through
improvements to, and better communication of, analytical and financial services and
products to members.

Role Specific Capabilities
This position requires skills about the following areas:

High level quantitative and analytical skills
Written and verbal communication skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; ability to work with large complex workbooks, use
advanced nested and statistical functions and a general high comfort level with Excel
An eye for detail in cleaning and updating accurate data for analysis
A high level of proficiency in presenting results in graphical and written reports

Qualifications
The following qualifications are essential for this position:

Degree qualifications in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, economics,
finance, actuarial, engineering, computer science or similar.
