 Emphasis to be given to the Conventional Method of Teaching and LTP components has
taken second level
 The Subjects are updated periodically and also rearranged to maintain a parity between

 Organised various Special Lectures on current legal issues.
 Conducted Internal Assessment Tests (2 –IA Tests) and more focus towards Conventional
method of Examination & Evaluation
 Restricting the IA Component to 40 Marks
 Introduction of Paper Minimum for both UG – (27marks out of 60marks) & PG( 32marks
out of 70marks)
 INFLIBNET database & AIR Data base have been subscribed.
 Wi-Fi facilities have been upgraded in Library & Hostel
 Students of our college have been deputed to High Courts, NLSIU & other various Law
firms for Internship.
 10 Students from UG & 5 Students from PG were completed their internship at NLSIU
during 2013-14
 Two projects have been completed in association with ATI & One Project has been
sanctioned by IIPA, (Centre for Consumer Studies) New Delhi.
 The faculty members have also submitted their project proposals (MRP) to the UGC.
 As per the suggestion made by Prof .P.Mallikarjun Shetty, Students representatives also
included in the IQAC panel.

3. Research, Consultancy and Extension
3.1 Initiatives of the IQAC in Sensitizing/Promoting Research Climate in the institution
Research Group –ORGAN (Orangising Research Group for Analysis and Novelty) is functioning towards the
promotion of research and involving students in developing the research skills.
JSS Online Journal – ISSN 2321-4171 JSS Journal for Legal Studies and Research (JSSJLSR) is a centre for
development in legal research under initiative of RESEARCH GROUP-ORGAN (ORGANISING
RESEARCH GROUP FOR ANALYSIS AND NOVELTY). Each issue covers review articles on various
legal aspects, and also publishes full length reviews related to different subjects in law and that is of broad
readership interest to users in legal field.
OBJECTIVES:
JSS Journal for Legal Studies and Research (JSSJLSR) identifies the needs of Students, academicians, Young
Graduates, and Professionals:

To assist in worldwide higher legal education opportunities.

To contribute to the overall development of society by inculcating researching skills among stakeholders.

To promote publishing of articles, books and any other innovative works relating to law.

To build up rapport and alliance with other professional organizations.

To spread the awareness of legal Profession in society.

5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services
All the academic activites and extra curricular / cocurricular activites are conducted through the IQAC.
(Orientation programmes for freshers & Seminars/Workshops/ Faculty development programmes has
been conducted) Parents -Teachers Meet / Alumni Meet/ Mentors System/Students academic council
are the channels for creating awareness about student support services.
5.2 Efforts made by the institution for tracking the progression

Training for the Judiciary Exams in co-ordination with the Mysore Bar Association were conducted

5.6 Details of student counselling and career guidance
During the Orientation for the freshers eminent experts give career guidance and the
scope of legal education and avenues. Further, the college has established a Students
Academic Council to assist in the academic activities. Many of the soft skill trainers from
Bengaluru and Chennai have conducted workshops for our students (UG &PG). The
College also has Students Grievance Cell and a separate Cell for the Foreign Nationals.

6.10 What efforts are made by the University to promote autonomy in the affiliated/constituent colleges?
Ours being an Autonomous law college,functioning according to the regulations of
BCI and UGC . Presently being a self-financed Autonomous college, we are not
getting any financial assistance or support by the University or from the UGC .

The college alumni association meets once in a year and they assist the students in placing
our students and providing opportunities for internship. They also assist the staff for
conducting the moot court competitions and provide guidance in organizing Trial Advocacy
Competitions.

The college convenes parent-teacher meeting once in a semester and interaction is

I. Academic & Curricular Activities
1. The Orientation programme for the fresher’s was held from 1 st to 9th August, 2013.
Eminent resource persons from various fields gave lectures to our students.
2. IQAR meeting was held on 28th August 2013.
3. A Project on ‘A Study on the Working of Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum in
Electricity Sector’ has been sanctioned to our college by the CCS (Centre for Consumer
Studies) under the IIPA (Indian Institute of Public Administration). An amount grant of
3.5 lakhs was sanctioned towards the same.
II. Moot Club Activities
1. The team of Abhiram, Mula Sneha Gouder and Shyamala of IX Semester attended
National Moot conducted by School of Law, Christ University, Bengaluru held from 12 th
to 14th of September 2013 and stood 14th Place.
2. Atal Pathak, Devarjun Das, Hridaya Chandana and Sangeetha Murali attended the 9 th
Surana and Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot held at NUALS, Kochi from 27 th and
29th September 2013 and stood in the 9th place.
3. The team of Abhinav, Rutwik and Sharath K.R attended 3rd National Moot organized by
FYLC, RANKA, Jaipur, from 27th to 29th September 2013.
4. Inter class training for Moot members and for freshers was arranged on Saturdays by
the senior members of the Moot Club.
5. Abhilash V, Gaurav Mandappa and Sweatha P Ragunanthanan, of VIII Semester BBA.,
LL.B., had attended the 7th Annual Pro Bono Enviro National Moot Competition,

organized by the School of Excellence in Law, Chennai, along with the Tamil Nadu Dr.
Ambedkar Law University from 25th to 27th of October 2013 and stood in the 9th place.
6. Moses Raj, Prutha Bharathi & Prashanth Nagalpur had participated in the NALSAR
Criminal Moot Competition, 2014 from 6th to 11th January 2014.
7. The inauguration of the competition was held on 7th February 2014. Hon’ble Justice (Rtd)
M. F. Saldanha inaugurated, Dr. B. S. Reddy, Registrar, KSLU, Hubli was the Chief Guest. Sri. B.
N. Betkerur, Executive Secretary, JSSMVP presided.
8. There were four preliminary rounds followed by quarter finals on 8th February 2014,
semi finals & the finals on 9th February 2014. There were seven court halls in each
preliminary round. Nearly 21 judges (Judicial Officers, Chartered Accountants,
Advocates, members of the ICS) took part in the event.
a. The finals were held on 9th February 2014, in the presence of Hon’ble Justice N.
Kumar, Sri. P. K. Prasad, Director of Income-Tax, Sri. Seshachala, Advocate &
Karthik Ranganathan.
b. In the valedictory session, Hon’ble Justice N. Kumar delivered valedictory address,
Sri. P. K. Prasad was the Chief Guest and Dr. T. R. Subramanya, Vice Chancellor of
KSLU presided.
9. The National Law Institute University, Bhopal were the winners & Dr. Ram Manohar
Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow were the runners.

SDM Law College, Mangalore from 5th to 10th March 2014.

Challenges and Remedies’, Hon’ble Justice Chandra Shekariah, Former Chairman of
State Commission presided over the function.
4. One Day Workshop on Industrial Laws: Problems and Challenges, was held on 26 th of
October 2013. Sri S.K Vantogodi, Presiding Officer of Labour Court inaugurated the
programme and Sri. Ashwatha Narayana, Presiding Officer of Industrial Tribunal
presided at the valedictory session.
5. A One Day Seminar was organized on 12th November, 2013, on ‘Company Law’. Prof. Sreenivas,
Advocate was the Chief Guest, Prof. P.Shivananda Bharathi, Prof. S. Nataraj and Sri. Jagadish
A.T was the panelists.
6. A ‘Citizen Awareness Programme on Insurance’ was organized jointly by JSS law College, CREAT,
Bengaluru, and IRDA, which was held on 12th November 2013.
7. A One Day State Level Seminar on ‘Sports & Wellness – An integrated Approach’ was held on
13th Nov.2013. It was inaugurated by Dr. G.M. Susheela, Principal, Maharanis Science College,
Mysore, Prof. Seshanna Retired Professor, Dept. of Sports in Physical Education & Sports
Science, University of Mysore, Sri Khalid Khan, Director of Sports, Karnataka State Law
University, Hubli, were the chief guests. The seminar was presided by Prof. K.S. Suresh,
Principal, JSS Law College, Mysore.
8. Half a Day Workshop was organized on ‘Examination Reforms’ on 16th November, 2013, Prof.
K.S Suresh and Prof. P.Shivananda Bharathi were the resource persons.
9. District Level Training Programme was held on 10th and 11th January 2014, on ‘Domestic
Violence Act’ in association with the Department of Women and Child Development.
10. One Day Seminar was organized on 15th February 2014, by the P G Department on
‘Intellectual Property Rights and its Significance for Academia’ which was inaugurated
by Mrs. Prabhavathi Rao, Programme Coordinator, VTPC, Bengaluru and Mr. V.
Raghuram and Mrs. Bindu Sharma, Resource persons from VTPC, presented papers and
was coordinated by Prof. P. Shivananda Bharathi. All the faculty of P.G Department and
students were present.
11. A Workshop on ‘Examination Reforms’ was held on 22nd March 2014, at JSS Women’s
College, Mysore. Prof K.S Suresh, Prof P. Shivananda Bharathi and Prof Venugopal were
the resource persons and the faculties were present.
12. A Banking Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. M.A Saleem, Police Commissioner of
Mysore City, organized by the VI Semester students ‘Sagaciours’ on 26 th March 2014.
13. A Seminar was organized on ‘Corporate Management-Issues and Challenges’, which was
inaugurated by Prof. M.G Krishnan, Vice Chancellor, KSOU, Mysore, Sri. Suresh S
Kogilgeri, III Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mysore, was the Chief Guest and
Dr. Mruthyunjaya P Kulenur presided over the programme. Prof. K.S Suresh and
Prof P. Shivanada Bharathi were present which was held on 11th April 2014.
14. A Two Day Workshop on ADR was organized for the final year students on 11 th and 12th

1. World Human Rights Watch Elocution Competition was held on 26th August 2013, 24
students participated, Miss. Arthi of 1st Semester 5 years, bagged the rolling shield,
Miss. Krithika won 2nd Place and Miss. Adithi got 3rd Place. The Principal, faculty and
students were present on this occasion.
2. Miss. Mythri Prabhakar and Kuppa. J. Kepher of Vth Semester 5 years presented a
research paper on “Women Empowerment in India”, and it was awarded as a best
paper at the Worlds Law Dialogue.
3. Smrithi and Keerthana of VII Semester won the 1st Place in Dance Competition
organized by Samskrithi- Mysore Medical College& Research Institute on 21st
September 2013.
4. Mr. Akarsh M’s article on “Courier Service and the Law” was published in Star of Mysore
on 24th September 2013.
5. Miss. Radhika Bhat of V Semester 5 years has participated in Dasara Film festival 2013

11. Miss. Mythri Prabhakar’s paper has been accepted by the Women’s Worlds Congress,
Hyderbad and will be presenting her paper on 17th to 22nd August 2014. She has also
conducted counseling sessions and Teaches Music and Theatre to rescued trafficked
women and also their children involved with ‘Prajwala’.

which was delivered by Hon’ble Justice Arali Nagaraj, Rtd Justice, High Court of Karnataka, on
13th November 2013.
9. Mr.Rajashekar, Former Principal, Mahajana Law College, Mysore, spoke on Jurisprudence to the
third year law students on the 9th of April 2014.
10. Dr.G B Arvind, HOD, Department of Criminology, Mahajanas Degree College, spoke on
‘Psychology of Crime’ to the second year students on the 21st of April 2014.
11. Dr. Lobsang Sangey, the Honb’le Prime Minister of Tibet, (Exile Government) addressed
Tibetian students on 25th of April 2014. Prof P.Shivananda Bharathi and Jagadish.A.T
were present.
VII. Co-ordination Activities
1. Parent Teacher meeting was held on 8th March 2014. There was an interaction between
the parents and the principal regarding the common problems faced by the students.

Extra-curricular Activities
1. The 67th Independence Day was celebrated at the college campus on 15th of August
2013. Prof. Henry Bhadrappa, Yuvarajas College, Mysore, was the Chief Guest, various
cultural programmes was given by the 3rd Semester 5 years students.
2. NCC Team of our College has participated in 4 KAR AIR SQN NCC Basic Leadership Camp held
from 20th to 29th of August at Yelwala.
3. 98th Jayanthi Celebrations of Jagadguru Dr. Sri. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji and
inauguration of NSS and YRCW activities was held on 6th September 2013, under the
gracious presence of His Holiness Swamy Nirbhayananda Saraswathi, President,
Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram, Gadag-Bijapur. Dr. Basappa, Rtd. Professor of
Medicine was the chief guest. On this occasion Prof. B S Basavarjaiah, Rtd Professor
and Prof. R Narayan, Rtd Principal were felicitated.
4. An Awareness Programme was held on 30th October 2013 on “SAKALA” organized for
NSS Officers and Office Superintendents, Dr. Shalini Rajanish Asst. Secretary of
Government of Karnataka DPAR was the chief guest.
5. The National Flag was hoisted by Prof. Kumar on account of Republic Day celebrations
on 26th January 2014. Prof.Jannu also addressed the students on the occasion.
IX. MYCAB Activities
1. Traffic Awareness and Interaction Programme was organized on 24 th of August 2013.
Dr. M.A Saleem, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mysore City, was the chief guest and Prof.
K S Suresh, Principal, presided over the function.
2. On account of Gandhi Jayanthi, various Patriotic songs and skits were performed by
students on 2nd October 2013.
3. Blood Grouping and Donation Camp was arranged in association with JSS Hospital,
Mysore on 31st of October 2013.
4. An Awareness programme on ‘Prevention of Child Marriage’ organised in association
with Rotary Inner wheel Club, Nangangudu and ROTRACT, JSS Law College on 30 th
October 2013 at Golur Primary School, Nanjangud.

6. An Awareness programme on ‘Female Foeticide’, organised in association with Rotract,

7. Street Play was demonstrated by the Volunteers and ROTRACT on 11 th and 12th January
2014.
8. On occasion of Suttur Jatra Mahotsava an awareness stall on legal issues was installed
from 27th January to 2nd February, 2014 by the ROTRACT Members.
9. International Women’s Day was celebrated and the event was inaugurated by Smt.
Mahalaxmi Y.N, Administrative Medical Officer, organized by the 4 th Semester BA.LLB
students held on 8th March 2014.
10. Volunteers and ROTRACT members participated in Women’s candle light march and
Black day on 7th and 8th March 2014 organized by Women’s Organization on account of
Women’s Day.
11. An Awareness Programme on HIV Aids was conducted on 22 nd March 2014. Special
lecture was delivered by Dr. Sriram, Research Associate, Asha Kiran Hospital, Mysore,
organized by Karnataka AIDS Prevention Society.
12. An Awareness programme on HIV Aids and Food Adulteration was conducted at
Nanjangud, Vajmangala and Doora Village of Nanjangud in association with Rotary Inner
wheel, Rotary North, Mysore, on 22nd and 23rd March 2014.
13. Mr. Manoj Sebastian, Conveyor, Mr. Belle Gowda, Asst Director, and Mr.
Chandrashekar, District Co-Coordinator, V-Lead, Mysore, rendered speeches and
conducted a campaign on ‘Awareness among the Voters’ on 9th of April 2014.
X. Green Guides Activities
1. The Green Guides wing adopted a Leopard Cat for a period of one year by making
payment of Rupees 5000 on 19th September 2013.
2. The Green Guides wing of the college celebrated the ‘World Wildlife Week’ between 1 st
to 7th of October 2013. On this occasion the Green Guides of fourth years organized a
Quiz competition on Wildlife on 7th of October 2013.
3. The Green Guides wing organized a Trekking Programme to Kodachadri Hills, Shimoga
District, on 13th and 14th of April 2014. 40 students along with the teaching and non
teaching staff had gone for trek.
XI. Library Committee
1. Library Committee in association with Research Group celebrated Library Fest during
the last week of August, 2013. Various biographies were exhibited on this occasion.
2. Miss. Ridhima T secured 1st prize and Sri. Sharath K.R secured 2nd prize in Memory Test
Competition organized in association with Research group- ORGAN on 14th September
2013.
3. Miss. Varuni B. R. (IX Sem BBA, LL.B) got first and Sri. Santhosh Kumar M. V. (I Sem
LL.M) got second prize in Poster Making Competition organized by Library Committee in
association with Research Group.
4. Sri. Manohar M. got first prize and Miss. Premlatha got second prize in the competition

1. Sri. N. Rudramuni I Additional District & Sessions Judge, Mysore, delivered a guest
lecture on Procedural Aspects of Civil and Criminal Trials on 31st August 2013.
2. Smt. H.S Kamala, Family Court Judge, addressed the students on the topic ‘Family
Courts and Matrimonial Laws’ on 21st September 2013.
3. A Group Discussion on ‘Transfer of Property Act’, 1882 on 12 th October 2013, Sri. H.
Shashidhar Shetty, Principal Civil Judge, (Sr. Div) and Sri. M.S. Alva I Additional First Civil
Judge (Jr. Div) presided over the event.
4. Research Group conducted a research on ‘Right to Information’- Section 4(1)(b) with
Administrative Training Institute, Mysore on 26th of February 2014.
5. Research Group headed by P. Shivananda Bharathi and Jagadish A.T. involved in
research on ‘Female Related Legal Issues’ carried out in association with Abdul Nasir
Sab State Institute of Rural Development and report was submitted on 28 th of February
2014.
6. Research Group participated in report drafting on National Child Policy, 2013 with
Administrative Training Institute, Mysore on March 15th 2014.
7. A guest lecture on Criminal Procedure Code on 3rd March, 2014 was arranged and Sri.
M. Rudramuni, I Additional District & Session Judge was the resource person.
8. A guest lecture on Companies Act, 2013 was organized on 28 th March 2014. Mr. Alok,
Practicing Company Secretary delivered the lecture.
9. Research Assistance was extended to KAS Probationer Officers to submit their project
report on ‘Labour Issues ‘as partial fulfilment of 149th Common Foundation Course at
Administrative Training Institute, Mysore.

JSSLC ROTRACT
1. Inaugural ceremony of JSSLC -ROTRACT Club for the year 2013-14 was held on 16th of
August 2013.
2. A Legal Awareness Camp was held at Nanjangud organized by Rotract Club of our
college on 15th September 2013.
3. A Blood Check up Camp for School Children organised in association with Rotary
Innerweel, Nanjangudu, held on 10th December 2013 at Government Primary and High
School, Golur, Nanjangud.
4. An Awareness Programme on Child Marriage Restraint Act was held on 8 th of January
2014 at Shakthidhama, and Ashokapuram, Mysore.
5. An Awareness Programme on ‘Prohibition of Child Marriage’ was organised in
association with Women and Child Department, Karnataka on 4 th February 2014 at
Ashok Puram, Mysore.
6. Volunteers of ROTRACT attended one day Training Programme on ‘Motivation and
Leadership’ organized by Rotary Mysore North on 18th April 2014.
XIV.
Placement Cell
1. The First meeting of the JSSLC Placement Cell was held on 16th September 2013.
2. The placement cell of the college had arranged a talk on ‘Personality Development and
Career Oriented Matters’ on 26th October 2013 by Mrs. Geetha R Shah, Vista Mind,
Mysore.

Legal Associates.
4. Quislex, a company based at Hyderabad and Clutch Group of Companies, at Bengaluru
are to visit our college in the last week of April to place our students.
5. Two of our final year students have applied to the TATA AIG Insurance Company, both
at Chennai and Bengaluru offices and the results are awaited.
6. The NLSIU, Bengaluru, and Anup S Shah Law firms have offered our students to
internship with them for 6 weeks during this vacation.

1. The Freshers’ Day was inaugurated on 31st August 2013 by Sri. G.K Ravindra Kumar,

presided over the event. It was followed by various cultural activities and Miss Madhura
and Mr. Prajwal were Ms. & Mr. Black Coat respectively for the year 2013-14.
2. ‘Haasyada Honalu’ programme was held on 13th November 2013, by Sri. Gangavathi
Pranesh, Sri. Narasimha Joshi and Sri. Chandra Shekar Mahamani on account of Kannada
Rajyotsava.
3. 6th Graduation Day was held on 30th November 2013, Hon’ble Justice Dr. V.S Malimath addressed
the students, Dr. T.R Subramanya, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Law University, Hubli, was
the chief guest and Sri. B N Betkerur presided over the programme where in 58 students from
B.A.L L.L.B 17 students from L.L.B and 18 students from LLM administered the Themisian oath
and received the Certificate of Degree.
