We ask that each school provide one judge for every two teams they send. If this is
particularly difficult for you school to manage, just send us an email at
uvicdebate@gmail.com, and we may be able to make exceptions. Please also indicate
the experience levels of your judges with your registration, as this helps us allocate
judges into rooms.
We are currently working on securing a group rate at a hotel, likely the same one as
last year (the Ramada Victoria Hotel) for mainland schools who have to stay
overnight on Friday. We will send out details as soon as we have them.
We will be providing lunch and snacks at the tournament, as well as coffee and tea
for judges in the morning. Please be sure to indicate dietary restrictions (vegetarian,
vegan, gluten-free, allergies, etc.) of all participants in your registration by the due
date, and we will do our utmost to accommodate them.
Registration fees will be $40/team for local schools and $30/team for off-island
schools. Payment will be accepted at the beginning of the tournament, in cash or
cheque made out to the University of Victoria Debate Society.
We are setting an initial school cap of 6 teams and a tournament cap of 60 teams.
Both of these have the potential to be flexible, depending on room and judge
availability, so if you wish to register extra teams please let us know and we will
start a waitlist.
Please email uvicdebate@gmail.com with the following registration information by
