Springfield Pre-Game Dinner and
Rally to be held Feb. 4
Join fellow Springfield, MO area
alumni on Thursday, February 4, for
a Pre-Game Dinner and Rally before
our Lions take on the Evangel
University Crusaders.
Join us for complimentary food and
drinks, from 4pm-7pm at the
Springfield Brewing Company
located at 305 S. Market, Springfield,
MO 65806.
It’s not too late to RSVP and join other local alumni at
the Hyland Performance Arena on campus, as the LU
women’s and men’s basketball teams take on
Benedictine College on Saturday, February 6.
Rally our basketball teams at the women’s game at 2
p.m., and the men’s game at 4 p.m. Alumni and guests
will receive free admission to the games, and
complimentary food and drinks will be served between
games in the VIP Room in the Hyland Arena.
After dinner, join other Lion fans at
the Evangel University Ashcroft
Center for the Women’s Game at
5:30 p.m. and Men’s Game at 7:30
p.m. Game tickets may be
purchased at the door and don’t
forget to ask for the Lindenwood
section.

Charles Alumni Club allows a continuation of learning
opportunities, networking situations, and a chance to
give something back to the university.
The St. Charles Alumni Club is a group of alumni who
work together to sponsor students scholarships,
promote Lindenwood pride, and host alumni social
activities.
The Club is involved with sponsoring activities during
Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, such as the
Welcome Reception, Dorm Decorating Contests, and
Parade Float Judging. In addition they also host the
Annual Fall Fashion Show fundraiser to raise
scholarship support for LU students. The Club also
contributes to special Lindenwood projects, and helps
to upkeep the Lindenwood Alumni Museum.
The Club is actively seeking new members and would
love to have your support. Dues are only $10 a year,
and your support and involvement will help the Club to
accomplish even greater things in 2010! To find out

Lindenwood University’s Belleville campus is having
another growth spurt by adding three new degrees and
eight new areas of specializations to its daytime
undergraduate offerings beginning in the fall of 2010.
The school has also added 16 employees to its staff to
handle the influx of students expected to participate in
the new classes.
“These are programs that will help meet the needs of
the community and its residents, “ said Lindenwood
Vice President Jerry Bladdick, Chief Administrative
Officer of the Belleville campus. “These are programs
that people in this area want. And they are programs
that will develop the workers that area employers
need.”

On Campus
Business Administration, Human Resource
Management and Criminal Justice. Bladdick said indemand areas of emphasis have been added to the
already established Corporate Communications
programs including Public Relations, Media,
Advertising and Sports Management.
Lindenwood’s Belleville campus opened in 2003,
offering only Criminal Justice and Education courses.
Since then, course offerings and attendance have
skyrocketed to over 1,500 full and part-time students.
The University is expecting over 200 new students for
the spring terms. Daytime classes were added last year
and the Belleville campus has created its own sports
teams including men’s and women’s soccer, basketball
and volleyball programs, along with a cheerleading
squad.

Alumni Office looking for 2010 Reunion
Class Agents
Want to be involved? The 2010 Homecoming and
Reunion is just around the corner and the Alumni Office
is looking for individuals from this year’s honored
classes to serve as class agents. This year’s honored
classes are the classes of 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980,
1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005.
You can help spread the word about the class reunion
celebration and weekend’s events by contacting your
Lindenwood friends and classmates by phone, email,
and Facebook, at your convenience. Invite them to join
you at the 2010 Homecoming and Reunion Weekend
and to get involved in helping with the reunion plans.
We’ll provide you with the contact lists for alumni from
your class.
Over the years, we have also lost contact with some of
your former classmates from this year’s honored

American Oratory

movement that pushed for the
education of men and women. Hear
literary works and music from the
American Revolution, Civil War, and

past patriots, abolitionists,
naturalists, and those who steered

Ms. Ling Thumin to present on
“The Cultural Revolution in the
PRC”
Ms. Ling Thumin,
Instructor in
Chinese
Language and
Culture at Saint
Louis University,
series. The speakers include the president of an
electric company, a Lindenwood professor, a police
deputy, an art show director, and two forensic experts.
All speaker series events are free and open to the
public. The presentations will take place from 5 p.m.-6
p.m. in Room 216 on the Belleville campus in the
Administration Building.

p.m. in the Spellmann Center
Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room.
She came to the United States in
1989 with two bachelor degrees in
Chinese Literature and Education
respectively from China. Ling and
her family were tragic victims of the
Culture Revolution under Mao
Zedong.

Arun Gandhi to speak at Lindenwood on
Sibley Day

Peace activist Arun Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma
Gandhi, will speak twice at Lindenwood on February
24, as part of the school’s second annual Sibley Day
festivities. Gandhi’s first address at 11 a.m. is titled
“Lessons Learned from My Grandfather”, his second
address at 7 p.m., will be on “A Nonviolent Response
to Terrorism.”
Both speeches will be in the Spellmann Center’s
Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room on the main
campus, and are free and open to the public.
Opportunities to meet the speaker after both events will
be available.
