NHS Prescription Charges

NHS Regulations require patients who are not exempt, to pay the current charge for any medicines taken away from the Department; for example pain killers or antibiotics

The current NHS prescription charge for 2015/2016 is £8.20 per item

Please Note:

Checks may be made to confirm the patient’s entitlement to exemption from paying the NHS prescription charge.

If you are not exempt you will be asked to sign a “Promise to Pay” form and will receive an invoice either in the post or by e-mail.

Important Notice for Patients Living in Wales

Patients living in Wales, who are not exempt for reasons indicated on the NHS prescription form, are required to pay the current NHS prescription charge for any medicines obtained in England.
