Events
The Spring Ball: Students and staff join together to celebrate their time at school at the Spring
Ball. We reflect upon the journey that the students have made, their outstanding commitment,
their growth in maturity and all their hard work.
The Leavers’ Service: Year 11 recall some of their favourite times at school with the other
year groups. This is usually followed by lunch and games on the field. After this pupils will
leave the building, only then returning for revision and exams.
Both of these events are well regarded by students. It is important for students to understand
that good attendance, behaviour and a positive attitude to learning are basic expectations and
it would be unfair to those students who have shown these qualities in abundance, to extend
the same invitation to students who have not. Whilst we fully expect to invite all students in
Year 11 to both events we reserve the right to remove the invitation to either one or both events
if these basic expectations are not met. We also trust that students will engage fully in the
spirit of each event and not spoil this with any poor behaviour, for example water bombs, which
disturb exams, teaching, or other students’ learning; the consequences of which could lead to
a fixed term exclusion. We are very proud of our students and trust that no such sanctions will
be necessary.
Expenses
Individual and year group photographs are taken in November. Various packages are
available ranging from £9-£35. Ordering and payment can be made via the school or on the
photographer’s website. Ordered photographs will be handed out to students in school prior
to the Christmas break. .
Following a very successful evening at our new venue last year the Spring Ball has again been
booked at The Pavilion. This event is subsidised through a variety of funds raised and we aim
to keep the cost as low as possible but a contribution of between £30 and £35 will be required.
Towards the end of the year students will have the opportunity to buy a “Leavers’ Hoody”. The
cost of this is approximately £20. Finally, the other popular purchase is the Year Book,
designed by the Year Book Committee with input from all Year 11 students. The cost of this
will be approximately £20.
All expenses are approximate figures and you will receive detailed information much nearer
the time. However, in order to spread the cost you may wish to start paying instalments into
your sQuid purse. Alternatively if you are not able to access sQuid Mrs Fryer in the finance
office will collect funds. Envelopes with the name of your child and “Year 11 expenses” written
on the reverse. The above are all optional and there is absolutely no obligation to make any
payments before-hand or to take up any of these opportunities; this letter is intended only to
forewarn you of the potential costs your child may choose to incur for you!
We very much look forward to the year ahead and indeed to the 25 August 2016 when the
students will finally reap the rewards of all their hard work.
Should you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the school
office.
Yours faithfully
Miss S Hegarty
Head of Year 11
