Local resident taking personal steps to End Women’s Cancers!
One Weekend CAN Change the World!

gynaecologic cancers, by participating in The Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ benefiting the
Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital
(RBWH). During the weekend of 26-27 October, 2013, she/he will walk 60 kms through the
neighbourhoods of Brisbane alongside thousands of men and women who share a passion for
conquering women’s cancers.
One in eight Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. (Name)

This event will be the first annual Weekend to End Women’s Cancers in Brisbane. Proceeds from The
Weekend will support groundbreaking, critical cancer research at QIMR. QIMR researchers are
working to develop accurate diagnostics as well as new, targeted treatments and much more. Funds
raised will also help RBWH, home of Queensland’s largest Cancer Care Service, purchase vital
pieces of equipment and fund world-class clinical research conducted at the hospital.
Throughout their journey, Walkers will be fully supported by hundreds of volunteers and crew
members, providing them with food and hydration, portaloos, safety on the road, comprehensive
medical services and an overnight campsite complete with tents, hot showers, entertainment and
massage.

The Queensland Institute of Medical Research Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is
dedicated to translating discoveries into treatments, diagnostics and prevention strategies. One of

Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) is a 929-bed quaternary and tertiary referral teaching
