Job Purpose:
To manage effectively the funeral arrangements of the deceased for family and
friends (clients) to ensure they have a positive and memorable experience. To
provide expert advice and guidance to family and friends throughout the process.
To support the Managing Director in the management of the business and team, to
ensure a high quality service is provided at all times.
Main Duties:
Client liaison
 Provide first point of contact for telephone and face-to-face enquiries,
recording all relevant information
 Meet clients either at the office or in their home to understand their wishes
and to agree specific arrangements
 Provide information and advice on funeral service options, products and
merchandise, from obituary notices, casket selections to order of service.
 Advise on the legal requirements and complete the statutory paperwork with
the client
 Offer counsel and comfort to bereaved families/friends and facilitate
viewings.
 Update clients on arrangements as appropriate
Funeral arrangements
 You will be required to provide out of hour cover for enquiries, one week in
two, including weekends. It will be your responsibility to organise removals as
required
 Liaise with doctors, hospitals, the police, ministers, newspapers, florists, printers
and other outside agencies as appropriate
 Arrange for clergy members to perform required services.
 Book team as required to provide embalming, bearer and transportation
 Arrange transportation between sites for mourners, bearers, clergy and
flowers
 Ensure all associated administration is completed on time and with a high
attention to detail
Preparation of the deceased
 Arrange transfer of the deceased to the place of rest

Escort doctors to visit the deceased for completion of statutory documents.
Receive and record clothing and possessions brought in for the deceased.
Oversee the preparation of the deceased, including repatriation of bodies
Record and receipt the holding and release of cremated remains.
Leading the funeral
 Complete final checks for all arrangements and brief the bearer teams
 Close caskets and lead funeral corteges to crematorium, churches or burial
sites
 Ensure all arrangements are followed during and after the ceremony,
providing direction to the bearer teams as required.
General
 Market the pre-paid funeral plans, providing advice and guidance where
required and completing all documentation.
 Train team members including casual bearers in all aspect of the operation to
ensure our quality standards are achieved.
 Ensure the diary is kept up-to-date with all appointments, identifying and
managing any potential conflicts.
 Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed by you and the team,
taking appropriate action to address any shortcomings without delay.
 Provide out of hours duty cover for enquiries and removals as required
 Complete ad hoc administration, e.g. recording donations, as required.
 Deputise for the Managing Director in his absence.
