Profiling Marine Habitats Project

Instructions:
You are to select a specific habitat from your assigned ecosystem type (for example, a specific habitat for the
ecosystem type of “estuaries” would be the Chesapeake Bay). If you are having difficulty selecting a habitat,
please see me and I will help you. For the assignment, you are to present the required information below in
one of the following formats:

Poster: Size must be greater than 9x11 inches

PowerPoint: Must be 5+ slides; Must be received by email BEFORE class on the due date

Diorama: Display must be at least 12x6 inches; Written information must be attached on back
(What is a diorama? >>> “A 3D representation of a scene in which objects or models are
arranged in a natural setting against a realistic background” – also known as “what you made in
elementary school using a shoe box and model magic”)

Name of specific habitat
Location of specific habitat
Climate Zone
3+ animal species AND 1+ plant species found in this habitat (common names AND scientific names)
Simple food web including: a primary producer, an herbivore, a primary consumer, and a secondary
consumer
Threats to this habitat / Conservation status
Why this habitat is important?
Colored depictions of habitat and organisms
o POSTER/POWERPOINT: 3+ neatly hand drawn / printed color pictures
o DIORAMAS: 3+ color 3D figures and a color background
